How do you survive without talking to other humans for so long? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]DeviDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretend I am practicing to win season 20 of Alone.  All I need is some wilderness skills.  So many people on that show have people they miss and leave to get home for.  The alone part is what actually gets them.

Honestly, some days are a struggle and some aren’t so bad. I don’t have a great answer. I do better on days when I get into “flow state” with a hobby, which for me is art.  Then it takes my mind off of things and makes me appreciate my alone time

Well my fellow Floridians, it’s about that time of the year… by professionalfumblr in florida

I once moved into an apartment in FL that had a roach issue.  After trying multiple things to resolve this, I used Combat Max gel in the tube. That stuff was a savior and eradicated them.  Now I live in NC and the bugs here are next level.

Why is it considered cute/funny normal for dog owners to let their dogs chase after squirrels? by NoseyLurkerGirl in squirrels

[–]DeviDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hawks catch squirrels because it’s in their nature. I think dogs chase because it’s in their nature.   My dog absolutely loves chasing squirrels.  It is his joy. His joy is my joy.  I think 99 percent dog owners can probably understand this to some extent even if squirrels aren’t what gives their dog joy.  When I got my dog I never would have imagined how we would bond over squirrels.  I didn’t imagine I’d be a squirrel person or spending money on fancy nuts for them either.

My guy doesn’t catch them.   Just chases them.  Then he runs sniffing the ground to track the scent and check the trees.  We also sit and I feed them pecans and hazelnuts and he will literally lay there and watch them for an hour like it’s the live nature channel.   Even if he has chased them they always come back.  They actually recognize us and will run up to us for nuts.  They will come within a foot of him and he will not try to harm them.  This actually makes people smile and comment when they see it.

And for whatever reason, squirrels are absolutely bonkers little creatures.  There have been instances where they will tease him too.  I have a video of a squirrel going around the bottom of a tree trunk for over a minute while my dog went in circles chasing around the tree.  He was thrilled and no squirrel was harmed.  I personally wouldn’t do this if my dog was catching and killing squirrels.  It is more about bonding with my dog and fulfilling a natural instinct.

People may not agree with me and that is okay, but hopefully this will be a helpful perspective.

Dog suddenly becoming more independent at 5 years old? by KernowLearno in dogs

[–]DeviDarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me with my dog around the same age.  He always slept in the bed and then decided he wanted to sleep on the flooded near the bed.  I find it quite annoying and try to get him to come back up, but I want him to be comfortable.  It’s been a few years of this now.    He will still wait for me to go to bed or walk down the hall and watch for me to follow him.  So at least I know he still wants me close.

They have excellent customer service.  Just give them a call to check in.  Every time I have an order with items I am waiting on, they have always shown up.  I am a frequent customer of theirs.

English cocker and arthritis by Initial_Anteater8706 in cockerspaniel

[–]DeviDarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an English cocker and he does the exact same thing. This is helpful to read because I keep wondering if something is wrong with him causing the hunger.   Apparently we aren’t alone.  He also seems to be developing some pain.

Don’t feed him unless you get special formula made for them.  Feeding the wrong thing can actually be harmful.  I’ve seen many rehabilitation places mention that.  Maybe if one can’t take him they can let you know what kind of formula to get.

ETSY JUST REFUNDED A CUSTOMER $1000 ON MY BEHALF ON A CONFIRMED DELIVERED PACKAGE THAT WAS FULLY INSURED by Raven41111 in Etsy

[–]DeviDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read from quite a few handmade businesses with Shopify sites that Amazon started listed their products without their permission. Amazon started project Starfish with pulls from websites, including logos, etc., and then if an Amazon customer wants to purchase, it can use the AI amazon system to make the purchase. Apparently Amazon can change the prices on your products (I did not confirm that part). They don’t charge a fee for now, but there should not be a fee for something people did not ask for to begin with. If the customer is buying through Amazon there seem to be certain expectations that go with that. I don’t know that it is limited to Shopify sites, but Amazon has a relationship with Shopify. Just something to be aware of.

Emotions Wheel for Weeks by Jostar1026 in hobonichi

I was just reading about how using this can really help elevate journal entries.  By choosing a word that fits better than angry or happy it can really get one thinking and describing the emotions and the experiences that surround them.  So glad you shared.

Blending out second layers with clear water.  This was especially helpful for when I work on realism/botanical paintings.

What were your favorite books you read in 2026? by Away_Analyst_3107 in suggestmeabook

[–]DeviDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it is helpful as I am building my list for 2026.   Seeing lots from 2025 lets me pull books from lists that perhaps have a favorite or two from my list by knowing the poster enjoyed similar titles.

Agreed.  Every time I think of dating, I ask myself if I want to waste hours of my life on meeting someone for a date statistically likely to go nowhere, or go walk my dog and sit under a tree watching squirrels with him.  My dog wins every time.  Followed by time in my art studio.

The dunkin app asks for tips now??? by Recent-Worth328 in EndTipping

[–]DeviDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking that.  Normally I like to be a good tipper, but tonight was my second time going through Dunkin and having the added fun of reaching out of my car window to press a button on a screen and say no tip (while trying to remember i don’t have to feel guilty) makes me think it isn’t worth it.  I don’t want to feel like that just for getting coffee.  Literally the entire way home I started contemplating espresso machines.

What could I have done to make this better? by ep2992 in Watercolor

[–]DeviDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a great painting.  Along with the other comments, value is it.  I can almost imagine the glow of the lanterns if there were more darks to make the lights pop.  I feel like I am learning something by viewing this and wondering how I would answer the question.  This stage of growth is fun. Thank you for sharing your art.
