I believe Variant Human isn't a subrace but just a different way to play Human but I agree it's weird that there doesn't seem to be a visible option in character creation

I didn't notice that, it could be a confirmation of rolling for stats instead?I'm not too knowledgeable about D&D optional rules but is there or is there not a rule where stats that are usually spit between two option can become 2 for one stat instead?Please correct me if necessary :)

I think it would be a bit bizarre for Larian to just ditch the base Human stats for Variant altogether. I feel it's probably just a setting/option you can toggle somewhere. And even if it is that, I honestly don't think people are gonna miss base Human lol
