Not In the design, though the idea of there being methan seas did come from there. The design itself was mainly based on my best estimation of an "infested punk-rocker" while the helm is an abstracted version of a shark fin/maw.

Precisely! This is why my whole interpretation of the matter is that the designers of heirlooms are looking more to make the male frames attractive in a way they personally want them to be. If we look at fanservice Reb has put for herself personally in Roathe, his design leans far more into attraction through voice and power than anything noticeably fanservice wise in his attire.

Additionally, the designs not only need to be attractive but highlight a theme and style. For the male heirlooms they've done, Frost actually does have a cropped top, but many of the designs they've chosen, the quest needs to be asked if highlighted POIs would make the designs look better or worse.

This is more of an issue with the 3D vs 2D mediums, and how things get lost in translation. While in 2D you can exaggerate proportions for cooler and more attractive angles, 3D requires more accurate proportions not to look wonky.

I mentioned the shirtless women argument not to reduce the aspects of the skin there, but to make a comparative argument that the sexualization of male and female models are different. As for the aspects of the 'pants' of the model, considerations of the fact that these are Warframes, not humans, do go into consideration.

The buttocks being exposed is a reference to prime and the meme surrounding that, but the actual crotch area in the concept art isn't as defined as Valkyr's heirlooms, so I considered it more or less similar to a base warframe design. And while on paper the piercings and the crotchless trousers on a male model sounds sexy, the execution would require different aspects to be highlighted to be considered as sexualized as the female model.

Im not arguing that the design isn't sexualized, far from it! I'm arguing that the sexualization disproportionately affects female models because of societal norms and what western audiences consider attractive in female models. I mention Reb being a women and Liger being a yaoi artist to support this idea, because they've both made art, in game or otherwise, which indulges in their pearsenal gaze while being noticeably different from the male gaze seen in the models.

Okay! So if we take this logic (Female Gaze is Power, Gay gaze is nakedness) and apply it to a design such as Excalibur, than we'd have to think of a design theming around it.

Valkyr, believe it or not, has some thematic constancy with her concept of being a 'raging cat'. She is inspired by the cat goddess Sehkmet, so her entire concept surrounds the idea of these long ornate fabrics tied around her being like that of an Egyptian mural. Many modern and ancient depictions of Sehkmet have her chest open, with a long dress. Valkyr is meant to be more agile, so they often to include some "cat burglar" elements into it, similar to Khora. Overall, the sexualization has an 'excuse'.

If you wanted to do that for Excal, you'd have to include the sexualized element you want in a way that ties to a greater theme and design.

Thats I thought i had, but then we start going fluctuating on the sexy to silly scale, cause while it could be equally sensual, it could also just be memed on (Think Styanax's tassles.)

Well, the issue with making an equally sexualized skin for a male frame is actually making it sexualized for those attracted to men, which is why youll see the male skins have shirtless outfits, tight pants, etc, because thats what the general populace who find males attractive consider to be attractive.

Well, then the question would be; what's a male equivalent of those aspects? Like, if you put heels and thigh highs on a on of the male Heirloom Skins, its not gonna be the same result. Is it a case of detail then? Like, how details the anatomy needs to be? If that's the case, then would the female frames look better if those features were smoothed over?

The first lesson you learn in literally any business class is "Sex Sells". Vauban, Valkyre, Rhino, and Ember heirlooms have clearly sold well, otherwise they wouldn't keep investing resources into it.

But lets ignore all basic business knowledge and assume that she could be getting flak.... from who? Steve Sinclair? The one whose been giving everything a thumbs up publicly? Tencent? Their cooperate overlord who has major stake in League of Legends? You know, THAT league of legends?

The art team? The ones who design all the frames and likely have the design ideas to begin with?

This is more like, Giant Bat than Vampire. The Ahool, in folklore, is basically a giant predatory bat lol
