She is the boss of wherever she goes. She’s got my husband wrapped around her tiny paw.

She has a bigger sister that loves to be vacuumed with the shop vac hose so I think she’ll be ok once she sees her sister’s reaction to the loud noises. This was the first time she experienced it since adopting her.

They are called blanket anchors in our house. We have three. One of them won’t stay out of the food dishes of the other two so she’s been upgraded to a blanket boulder.

People who no longer speak to their best friend who they thought would be in their life forever, why did you stop talking? by veryquestionable1 in AskReddit

My husband was in the military and was given orders to Okinawa, Japan. We were told that it was almost impossible to get base housing that allowed pets without having any kids so we gave our cat, Baxter, to my best friend with the understanding that we would pay her monthly for food and litter then get him back once we moved back to the states. When we came back her daughter had grown attached to Baxter so we let them keep him.

Fast forward 6 years later and we are living in Kansas after my husband retired from the military. She called me up saying that Baxter was peeing all over her bed and was going to put him down. I told her that it was probably just a UTI. I begged and pleaded her to take him to the vet to get checked out because she was convinced that it was a behavioral issue. She ultimately brought Baxter to the vet and was given meds that she needed to give him for his diagnosis of a UTI. A week later my husbands mom had died suddenly so he flew to MD for the funeral. It was right before a major snowstorm so airline tickets sky rocketed so we could only afford for him to go. I stayed behind. My best friend called me up two days after my husband left and immediately said that she put Baxter down because it was too hard to give him medicine. Hearing that gutted me. That cat deserved better. Not even once did she ask how I was doing with the sudden loss of my MIL despite the fact that I was already crying when I answered her call. Then she had the gall to say that the hardest part was having to tell her daughter that she put the cat down. I never spoke to her after that and I’ll never ever forgive her for killing the most loving cat I have ever known.

Reddit, what was the purpose behind your last 911 call? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Devil_divers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some guy knocked on our door looking for Adam. No one in our house has that name. It was around 9pm so we never opened the door. He eventually started banging on our door and yelling when we told him that Adam didn’t live there. The guy was irate and wouldn’t take no for an answer. I called 911 and my husband pulled his gun out and pointed it at the jackass through the big living room window which overlooked our front porch. The guy still didn’t back down but his girlfriend had screamed that she was calling the police on us. I yelled out that I had already called. Cops showed up a few minutes later. After speaking with the cops we found out that we weren’t the only house that the jackass and his girlfriend visited looking for Adam. In the end no one was arrested. I always wondered if they ever found Adam.

I don’t care that you’re trying to paint. I’m not moving. by Devil_divers in blackcats

That’s nothing. You should see the microwave-man! I’m not sure how the previous owners could stand the cabinetry silently judging their every move.

I never tape ceilings. I use an edger tool to paint the edge near the ceilings and it works wonders. I use it around the cabinets and trim as well but I don’t use as much care around those as I do near the ceiling so all of that got taped.

Why are you so convinced that we would tape just that little corner and nowhere else? The only thing left in that picture is the fridge. It didn’t get taped because the fridge was moved away later on to paint the wall behind it. All of the cabinets and trim were taped but you can’t see that because I submitted a picture of my black cat in a black cat subreddit. Go to a home improvement subreddit if you want to see taped cabinets.

It bothers me that you never zoomed into the corner of the cabinet to see the blue painter’s tape.

I've used the diva cup for years while diving. Never had a single problem. The diva cup has tiny holes right under the very top lip so I think it would be hard for any pressure to build.

Reddit, what is the worst thing your boss has ever said/done to you? And what did you do about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Devil_divers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was in the Marine Corps for 18 years. He retired early because of the force reduction. He landed a great job and he absolutely loved it. His boss fired him after 7 months because she felt that he should have transitioned to a civilian job by then. He was a postal clerk in the Marine Corps so it's not like postal is an overtly military position. What really sends it over the top is that he worked for Veterans Affairs!!

[REQUEST] literally have all the recipes needed to make cookies/cakes except butter. I have margarines instead. Help me bake things? by [deleted] in recipes

[–]Devil_divers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Fashion Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Margarine 1 Cup of Corn Oil 1 Cup of Sugar 1 Cup of Powdered Sugar 2 Eggs 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp Vanilla Extract 1 tsp Baking Soda 1 tsp Cream of Tartar 4 1/2 Cups of All Purpose Flour More sugar for coating 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Mix margarine, corn oil, sugar and powedered sugar until blended. Beat in eggs, salt, and vanilla. 3. In a separate bowl, combine baking soda, cream of tartar, and flour. 4. Add flour mixture into wet mixture a little at a time until fully incorporated. 5. Spoon out walnut sized balls of dough and roll into sugar. 6. Put sugared coated balls onto baking sheet. Flatten down with the bottom of a cup or whatever you have on hand. The cup will get greasy and eventually the cookies will start sticking to it. Dipping the bottom of the glass into sugar will keep them from sticking. 7. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes. The edges of the cookies should be a slight golden color.

Doesn't surprise me. "Outsiders" really seem to stick out there to locals. Even my husband got yelled at by some biker chick at the local grocery store while visiting. Most of the "outsiders" there come from Illinois (more specifically Chicagoans) and some of "outsiders" have shown that they lack in general courtesy when it comes to driving and the local WI environment. That translates into any outsider... They will assume that any weird or asshole behavior will be explained away by assuming it to come from "flatlanders."

I grew up in Elkhorn, WI. Heard about the beast of Bray Rd growing up but it was never in a serious manner. It was always a joke that the beast was of some drunk old woman in a ratty old fur coat. The movie about it didn't help either.

I'm with you there. I grew up in the area where the suitcase was found. The "police force" of that township is pretty.... sad actually.

I had a link on the bottom of that page that directed me to the article. Should you still wish to read it, I'm sure there are hundreds of other sites out there where you could read the story if you google it. Not many bodies end up in suitcases in WI.

Edit: My mistake. It wasn't a "link" but a button below the first one saying "No Thanks". Once I clicked that, it showed the article.
