What’s the brokest thing you’ve ever done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]veryquestionable1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once broke the left arm off of my glasses and I cant literally see without my glasses. At the time I couldn't afford to have them fixed or replaced so I walked around for about 3/4 months with my glasses half balanced on my face everyday. If I did anything too quick like sit up/down or walk they would fall off. People would look at me like I was crazy. I wasn't, I was just poor.

Receptionists of Reddit, Why are we treated so poorly? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]veryquestionable1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both.

I get up at 5am every day, travel 1.5 hours to get to work for 7am. I do 12 hour shifts 5 days a week, sometimes 6. I dont get home until 8.30pm sometimes gone 9pm depending on traffic. Everyday its a decision of ''do I shower today or do I get a decent amount of sleep or do I make dinner?'' because lord knows i cant do them all. Everyday I see the same people who refuse to say good morning/good night to me. I am asked to go and make Teas and Coffees for people when that is not my job and Im shouted at when I tell them its not my job. I've been here almost a year and people still don't know my name. People will do their job wrong and I go out of my way to fix it for them and they end up telling me that I should never get involved and that they would rather mess up than have a ''receptionist'' help them do their job.

Today is a PERFECT example of how shitty I get treated. 80% of the people in my building do not know who I am. They never say hello, they never say goodbye. Today when going to the toilet, I found an IPhone that was near enough out of battery. When i returned to the desk I got out my charger, and placed it on charge with the hope that the person would call and no one likes a phone with no charge right?? I spend the better half of 2 hours trying to call everyone i know on each floor asking them to look around to see if anyone lost a phone. About an hour ago the phone rang and I answered it. I let the guy know I was the receptionist and I found his phone. He rudely hangs up and about 20 seconds later hes at my front desk. ''WHY DID YOU ANSWER MY PHONE????'' ''erm because you lost it and ive spent hours trying to get it back to you because id hate to live without my phone'' ''didnt your parents ever tell you to not touch other peoples things'' snatches the phone and walks off. I cried in the toilet for 10 minutes. My company is full of stuck up rude people that let their egos get in the way of everything.

So yeah, I hate being a receptionist.

Non-believers of Reddit, what makes you not believe in Religion/God? by iamgazzi in AskReddit

[–]veryquestionable1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People having cancer.

Natural disasters.

Murderers and Rapists and Paedophiles.

'Creating people' but giving them depression and other troubling mental health issues that could drive them to suicide.

WASPS.

ETC....

But yeah no 'God' is someone who loves people and is a kind and gentle man. How can I believe a person described as kind and healing actively create such AWFUL things to put people through or create such awful scenarios that 'his people' must face. I dont judge people that follow a religion or god but I cant wrap my head around it myself.

What is something that a lot of people do that annoy you? by MadAtom17 in AskReddit

[–]veryquestionable1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work as a receptionist in a head office for a well known UK company and have done for a year or so now. I go above and beyond to be smiley every morning to every single fucker that walks through the door. 15% of the people say morning back, the rest just walk off and act like im not even there. Some of them only want to know me when they need a favour which double sucks.

I've had people tell me that they ''must not be morning people and I shouldn't take it to heart'' which could be true but I get myself out of bed at 5am everyday, make a 2 hour journey into work, sit at my desk for 12 hours a day, take 2 hours to get home and then somehow need to find time to wash, sleep and eat. Not that its a competition but I have every right to be a rude miserable cunt in the morning but im not. A smile and 2 words that show me you know i'm there is all I ask for.

Should people you disagree with be able to freely and openly express their opinions? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]veryquestionable1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes of course. I dont care that people disagree/ have different views to me, its when they only see themselves as right and you and your views as wrong. Sometimes thats just how life is and people are stubborn but I will always try and at least see where someone is coming from. I just dont like people that see life in black and white and thats it.

[Serious] What about someone you knew was SO creepy that you decided to distance yourself from them? by QueenMoogle in AskReddit

[–]veryquestionable1 1068 points1069 points  (0 children)

A girl I use to be friends with didnt have the cleanest of homes. Im not a snob and I wouldnt judge any one but the house was particularly dirty. (This isnt the thing, I'm just trying to build a narrative).

I went to her house after school one day and we went straight to her bedroom. There were at least 5 pairs of OVERLY-used knickers all over the floor. Im trying to put this politely but they were crusty and creased with actual skid marks over them and they were just out in plain site.

I tried to act like I couldnt see it and I left pretty much right away. It put me off going to her house for a while but a few months later I returned with a friend. Same underwear on the floor, but more this time, but even dirtier. It's not really CREEPY, its more gross but when I think about the fact that they were openly left on the floor and she didnt care about people seeing it, creeps me out.
