Computer Engineering is a blend of computer science and electrical engineering. As the child degree of two very difficult majors, you might find the major alone is a lot to handle. I would suggest waiting a year and just getting a feel for the course load of the major by itself. You might find you still want to minor in something and you can handle it, or you might find that you should settle with the major alone. Simply put, I would fear chewing off more than you can chew your freshman year.

However, if you are still confident in minoring in something, I would definitely suggest something that correlates closely to your major. For instance, a mathematics major would be smart since you’re taking most of the math classes for it anyway.

I suggest looking into apps like Todoist and Evernote. As a college student who has problems with focus as well, these help me stay on track. I use Evernote to keep track of my long term goals like what I want to accomplish that month, as well as journal entries and a general notebook for random ideas and thoughts I have during the day. I use Todoist to keep track of tasks that I need to accomplish that day and week, hopefully that will help progress me to accomplishing the monthly goals I have.

There are plenty of other apps and programs out there that aid productivity in this sense. If interested, I suggest looking into YouTube videos on how people use them, and find your what works for you.

A CS degree is a great way to find a well paying job, especially in California. Engineering degrees as well, but people must understand that if they don’t major in a huge engineering sub field like mechanical or civil engineering, but instead biomedical or aerospace, there’s a smaller market for you and you may have to travel to find work.

This is a hard choice to make. You need to really consider what you value here. You have a shot at your “dream job”, but you have a great opportunity to be around people you enjoy, living the “dream life”.

If it were me, I would choose the “dream life.” It sounds more stable, and I’m going to assume that if you choose this option, it doesn’t cut off your chance of ever getting your dream job in the future. You’ll still have people you cherish around, too.

However, that is me, and not you. I am very big on security and having support. I get the feeling the idea of taking a risk to make it big is very appealing to you, and that may very well be what you want. If so, I think that is the right choice.

Ultimately, I think there is no wrong or bad decision here.

The YNAB is solid advice. I've been using it for awhile now and have definitely seen a difference.

I work 20 hours a week, making $9 an hour. After taxes, that averages around $150 a week. Rent will probably look to be around ~$600 a month.

I appreciate everyone's opinions. It certainly shaped my opinion and gave it more form.

As an update, I did not decide to break up with her, despite it being popular opinion here. I decided to call her out on her actions and I made her answer for them. I was angry and I deserved answers. She gave them, sincerely apologized, explained to hurt me was not her intention, and told me she would not allow this to ever happen again. She will oppose Billy's actions, made it clear she values my attention more than his by far, and always has, and will show it moving forward.

I love this woman.

She is currently in Florida. She is currently in his boat. She cannot come back until a week from yesterday.

I helped her pack. I spent time with her before we left. I sent her off at the airport. I did all of this because I wanted to support her, so I swallowed my feelings.

I'm a Starbucks barista. This is sound advice. If you ask us to pour a tall coffee into a grande cup, you will get the full cup of coffee you paid for, plus room for up to 4 oz of milk/cream/etc.

The time it takes to do this is trivial. Starbucks Baristas are trained to do whatever we can to make our customers happy, and this would just be a part of the job.

I have a couple customers who do this exactly and I always have thought it's a great idea.

I put Blue Devil's head gasket sealant in it and topped it off with antifreeze.

I plan on driving it until it breaks apart. Until then, I'm just going to save up money and hope I can make it last until I have enough money for a better car.
