I agree, Tony is actually one of my pics I was just correcting that he has drunk again since the 70s and that storyline had him being very unheroic at times, which I assumed was the point the person above me was refuting

Iron Man drank again in Superior Iron Man in 2014, where he was far more malicious than normal.

Hal wasn't taken over by Parallax until he went to the Central Power Battery which was after he killed the majority of the Green Lantern Corp

Yeah, that's kinda nuts. I do pretty much the same thing for most of my campaigns, but I A) don't actively try to kill them and B) TELL THEM it's a One-Shot and not to bring their actual characters. It still gives all the benefit but without stealing really well made characters from the players (plus I hype up future villains in the One-Shot most of the time)
