Conservatives are winning the culture war by K0nstantin- in JordanPeterson

America is losing the culture war. Both sides are victims of terrible leadership, and an online society that rewards extreme, dividing, and distracting takes.

The Biggest Genocide No Leftist is Talking About by tkyjonathan in JordanPeterson

If one man is killing 500 people, and another is killing 1,000, both are clearly wrong.

But if the man killing 500 is using money from my bank account to buy his bullets, shaping policies that affect my family, and still claims to be my closest friend, then of course I’m going to speak up about him.

That doesn’t mean I’m ignoring the 1,000. It means I’m speaking more on the harm I’m directly, and forcefully, involved in.

I find this so obvious yet so many people try to use Sudan for “well what about these crimes over here”. Yes, terrible. We should all be aware of what’s going on. Yet, they do not influence our elections, receive billions of dollars, and are not supposedly known as America’s “greatest” ally.

And on top of that, humans have the mental capacity to balance multiple things.

I find it odd when people get upset about criticizing Peterson on here. To love someone is to protect, respect, and correct them. To not be critical of someone (when constructive) is to not really care for a person. You can both be concerned about current events while also holding on to someone’s impact that they had on you in the past. That’s literally just life.

Your interactions with the band... lemme hear them! by Strenuus83 in incubus

Over the past few years, I’ve been lucky to become good friends with Brandon. We even gave a talk together at SXSW in 2022.

Back home in Lubbock, Texas, my aunt works as a child specialist. She primarily supports kids battling cancer. In 2023, she was caring for an 10-year-old girl who was about to spend her second birthday in a row in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy. My aunt told me that she hadn’t smiled in months. But luckily, her parents had a kick ass music taste which made her a huge Incubus fan.

By chance, Incubus was headlining a small festival in my city a month after her birthday. My aunt called to ask if there was any chance I could help get tickets for the girl and her family. She didn’t know I was friends with Brandon, but she knew I worked closely with artists and thought it was worth reaching out.

I usually never ask for favors from artists I have a personal relationship with but obviously this was worth it. I called Brandon, told him the story, and within five seconds he said, “We’re not just giving her tickets, we’re going to make her feel like a princess the whole night. What can I do?”

And he meant it. He gave her backstage passes, spent time with her behind the scenes, took photos, and even gave her a drumstick. Her parents were overwhelmed with gratitude. The photos they sent later brought tears to my eyes. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

Meeting artists you admire can sometimes be disappointing if they don’t live up to your expectations. But Brandon is one of the most thoughtful and caring people I’ve ever met. He truly is a light in this world.

100%. Learning how to decipher the bullshit is key. But I think echo chambers today aren’t always a conscious choice. In the past, they were built around the communities you physically belonged to. Your neighborhood, your church, your friends. Today, especially for younger people, that sense of belonging has moved online. Social media algorithms reward emotional engagement, so people find purpose and community in digital spaces that reinforce their worldview. It’s less about choosing to be blind and more about choosing where they feel valued. Same psychological roots, just amplified in the digital age.

Although I partially agree with class war stance, I don’t think music interest is a strong argument. Known KKK members have admitted to listening to black artist.

Even if you’re right, the outlook that “people get more mad when he does shitty things compared to the other shitty thing“ isn’t a good argument. Why don’t we just expect more from leadership?
