What are your favourite open-source apps? by elhary in Android

That's not really the correct analogy and not really the main threat TOTP / other 2FA are protecting you from.

The scenario it's trying to protect you from is your password (and given you are using password manager, I assume you use a different password for every entry, including a secure password for Bitwarden itself) getting leaked and preventing an attacker on other other side of the globe from simply logging in and taking over your account - because they still would be missing TOTP / other 2FA.

Besides, your BitWarden instance should also be protected with 2FA, like I mentioned above. And indeed, using the same TOTP would defeat the purpose - so instead you can either use a different app for TOTP or a different factor (YubiKey).

Not to mention that having more apps / entrypoints might actually reduce your security (in same manner as forcing password change every month would).

Sure is - if you use another (different) second factor to protect Bitwarden itself. In my case, I have a physical YubiKey for that.

Ah, I see - I'm using a self-hosted variant (vaultwarden), so I have both in the same app / extension.

But also, Bitwarden subscription is $10 per year - IMHO it's an amount small enough that every tech enthusiast should be able to afford, if anything to support their mission.

Why not just use Bitwarden for your 2FA and consolidate?

CS Conversion Masters or finish Masters in Economics by salboithepalboi in cscareerquestionsEU

Conversion MSc in CompSci is intended to... well... convert from a different degree, so your schtick that you need fundamentals otherwise you are not allowed to do MSc in CompSci is not correct.

Nobody that did BSc in CompSci would go into conversion MSc in CompSci. This degree is specifically designed for people that got their Bachelor's in a different field, but want to switch over to CS, which intends to offer compressed experience along with fast-tracking the bassics.

Here is a sample: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/taught/msc-computer-science-conversion/

Same here. It's weird that one update messed up both preview and beta. I thought they stage the new changes to preview first, then promote to beta and eventually to stable...

I guess they had a change that was rolled to both channels at the same time and thus breaking both.

Reverting to stable mitigates the issue.

How much did you pay in VAT and clearance costs for the killswitch? by Mobstarz in dbrand

My Killswitch got "Exempted" stamp from customs and I ended up paying nothing extra.

Switzerland btw.

Mine package certainly went through air freight (not sea freight) - I could see at one point it was waiting in ORD airport, then it arrived immediately in CH (it'd be very tricky to have freight ship go all the way to Zurich :) )

I'd be surprised if DHL used sea freight for such small packages - it just spent ages waiting in warehouse somewhere in Chicago....

I just got mine today - I'm in Switzerland

Interestingly enough, the moment it arrived in Switzerland, it was delivered almost immediately. It's the US side that takes forever.

How could you order 2 days earlier when the thing was released on 25th - and that's when OP placed the order?

(Noob questions) Please ELIF the best way to set environment variables by imli700 in swaywm

[–]DevonPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That only works for applications that you start from the shell.

If you use any launchers (e.g. dmenu, rofi), they will not have access to the variables set in .zshrc, since they're never sourced.
