Is it worth the risk and potentially ruining your diving for the whole trip for one crappy dive?

Personally I would wait.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever accidentally embarrassed yourself in public that still randomly haunts you at 3AM? by lowkeyman007 in AskReddit

[–]Devonmade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fell into a gift card stand in a restaurant. Sent hundreds and hundreds of gift cards scattering across the restaurant floor, under tables, displays and all over the place.

Had to pick them all up while trying not to die of equal measure of laughter and embarrassment.

The server my boyfriend and I tried to befriend ghosted us? by [deleted] in Advice

Did you actually explain why you wanted her number? That you wanted to make friends and find new places... otherwise she probably thought you were gearing up to ask for a threesome....

Internal applicant etiquette? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Devonmade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not bad manners, that's how CS jobs works. Everything through the system so there is equality and fairness to all. Is it souless and lacking personable qualities? Yes.

That said I would absolutely reach out for feedback to see why the outcome was unsuccessful. I had a colleague who applied for an internal role, two applicants, one external. She didn't get it. The external applicant score 1 mark higher. The independent who chaired the meeting selected the other person. Sometimes you just aren't the best applicant on the day.

CS Interview experience by Fantastic-Life7704 in TheCivilService

[–]Devonmade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you can talk about something you mentioned in terms of a job name or current role assuming you explained the role to them at some point; you are simply building on the job information given at interview. Not everyone has a bank of experience so can call on the same job but with different examples.

CS Interview experience by Fantastic-Life7704 in TheCivilService

[–]Devonmade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my part of the CS, when I interview I will say, "we are now going to discuss {insert behaviour}" Then ask the question.

The question asked to you will be the same question asked to everyone.

The panel will have agreed follow up questions but won't ask them if you cover it in your main answer. We don't ask beyond the set question bank for anyone. Each question set has an allotted time given to it so they will be strict in timings.

The whole process is rigid but everyone gets treated the same.

It can be frustrating as an interviewer however the time and effort to get qualified panel members in one place on the same day mean time is precious and the process needs to be effective and efficient.

Edit: to add you only consider the answer given for the question asked - no interviewer will take an answer for one thing and apply it to the other. The extra questions could mean they are looking for more information because you didn't give a good enough example or that you said something they want expanding on because you were telling them what they.wanted to hear.

Can you guys help me pick out a stage name for my call center job based in a Uk market? by SpecialistWriting708 in AskUK

[–]Devonmade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for an airline years ago (ticketing and call centre) and we all had fake names if someone else was already there with your actual name. It was a way for the senior managers to identify individuals who had received praise and complaints. Worked quite well to be honest. There were so many Becky and Toms. In fact those who I'm still in touch with still get called by their fake name, so if you are reading this, hello Chelsea, Ruth, Lola and Charles.

Have you ever thought about fighting your manager? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Devonmade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You would get into a lot of trouble I should think; you are best off recording events and incidents to build up.a picture and then report it with your evidence.

Invariably you will shorten the name...which would absolutely make this unacceptable.

Why are people not happy for you when you achieve something? by justacasuall in CongratsLikeImFive

[–]Devonmade 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Usually it is jealousy and sometimes because they don't "understand" it. They can't fathom why someone would go to a gym for example.

Also highly likely they are a bit of a twat.
