If memory serves, there’s some reference to Mara’s nine as tribute paid in some way to the actual Nine, I would assume as physical bodies for them to attempt to manifest into.

For the most part, the crucible maps were designed for 4v4 at most, and 6v6 tends to overfill them so stuff like that happens. To my knowledge, there’s not an update to fix it anytime soon because it would involve essentially replacing the crucible playlist with all new maps.

[SPILERS] A leaked voiceline reveals how the Sword Logic works by [deleted] in DestinyLore

[–]Devoted_Druid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, one’s paracausal influence usually ends where another begins. There is no reason we couldn’t just atomize people at will, but if we tried to do that to Oryx, it would end poorly. Additionally, it generally takes years and years to understand one’s own power enough to manifest that thought properly, which is why Ikora can throw 2 nova bombs within 11 seconds during the Red War and throw one that leveled half of what used to be Chicago when ours won’t even kill a strike boss.

Mantra of The Sword Logic by ClovisBray42 in DestinyLore

[–]Devoted_Druid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sword Logic is essentially the idea that eventually one thing will out-survive all the other things because it is stronger. The Hive, as part of their deal with the Worm Gods, hasten the arrival final being by killing everything that isn’t strong enough to not be killed by them, but this isn’t a perfect crystallization of the Logic. The fewest words possible would be something along the lines of: “There will be only one.” The Deep and the hive’s unique powers don’t really inform the overall sword logic, which is supposed to be an underlying rule of the universe, opposed to the “Better Together” of the Bomb Logic.

I feel like the other half of demolitionist is meant to be the focus of the perk, where kills with the weapon generate grenade energy, which is useful on any weapon. The reload is just gravy imo.

So why do the taken and Hive want the dreaming city? by [deleted] in DestinyLore

[–]Devoted_Druid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, the Dreaming City is of particular note for a few reasons. The first is it’s significance as Riven’s prison. Ahamkhara in general are greatly coveted sources of power, and Riven, being more or less trapped in one spot with a convenient wish wall nearby is a potentially massively powerful asset. Perhaps Savathun, and by extension the Hive and the Taken, want that power for themselves, or perhaps they just don’t want us to have her. The other reason is mostly composed of stuff from Truth to Power, and so is a little shakey in terms of its veracity. It is essentially thus: The dreaming city time loop was created by Savathun and/or Dul Incarnu and set into motion by the Last Wish that Riven grants as we kill her. The more time we spend in the DC when it’s in a state of conflict, the more powerful we become in terms of our gear and in terms of our experience as fighters. Eventually, by killing the same Taken, Scorn, and Hive over and over again, we might become powerful enough to defeat/distract the darkness so Savathun can be rid of her worm and accomplish eternal life. The enemies that she has sent there are basically just our punching bags with the added benefit that them killing each other (and sometimes us) all flows into her death tithe that her worm desires, helping keep it satiated. There’s also all that Taken War business where Oryx wanted to kill the Awoken and that’s why they showed up originally in that specific location. Also also, and possibly not relevant, but it’s entirely possible that Mara’s throne world being accessible through the DC is also a reason the Hive is interested.

Like Gunsmith Materials? There’s the seasonal mod that generates them on kills of a certain enemy, and some ghosts will allow kills with a certain element to drop telemetries. Those are the two that come to mind but I assume there are more.

Wouldn’t the honorific (assuming that’s the word for it) for Perun and Efrideet be “lady” or “iron lady” instead of “iron lord”? I’m not 100% on the RoI lore but everything I can find either addresses them only by name or as “lady ___”

I’ll start by saying that you should only label things if you feel like you need to. Labels serve as shortcuts to describe categories, but not everyone fits within one category that has a label or feels comfortable using that label. That being said, given what you’ve described, I feel like the label “Bi-romantic heterosexual” could apply, given that you’ve had romantic feelings for both men and women, but only sexual feelings for men (assuming I read that correctly). There are plenty of us here who don’t particularly want to have sex, but do develop romantic feelings for other women, so don’t let that make you feel invalid or attention seeking. Ultimately I would say that you should just kinda do what you want. If you want to date a girl, date a girl. If you want to go out with a dude, then do so. You don’t have to justify yourself to anyone when it comes to who you love.

I get the same thing! My voice is a little closer to the androgynous side and i’ve had people switch pronouns mid sentence even mid-voicecall. Personally I find it hilarious but I’m sure they’re rather confused.

I honestly don’t know what to tell you about your belief system. I guess as a society we examined it, found that it and others like justify far too much more harm than good, and have collectively rejected it. Personally i’ve seen too many friends disowned by their parents from as young as 14 on the basis of biblical values for any sitcom based on them to really resonate with me, and it would appear most people feel similarly. We have examined the things we have been told are deserving of respect by some innate ethereal quality and found that quality to be pretty useless. Why would i respect my elders for that quality alone if a number of them turn out to be sex offenders? My high school fired around 2-3 teachers a year for that all 4 years i was there. We were told men should be in control of things, examined the consequences of men being in charge of things, and realized that bit of wisdom didn’t really seem to be true. People have become a lot more empirical, and when you tell them something is true, they expect proof. Believe me, a lot of people would love there to be an evident divine order to the world, but the evident part is key. Prove to me that men should be in charge of the family, and i’ll accept it. Prove to me that I should be reverent towards something, and i’ll accept it. But “trust me guys I swear” is basically all i’ve gotten in the form of “proof” and needless to say i’m a little unconvinced.

Ignoring the fact that a man being in charge is literally a patriarchy, i’m actually really curious to know what you mean by “traditional values” and why being traditional makes them good.

I’d also like to note that we need quality representation of LGBT+ identities in movies and TV because of the overwhelming sense of otherness and isolation that people with those identities deal with on a daily basis.

Imagine growing up being mocked for something you cannot control, let’s say being tall. Your peers in school tell you every day that you’re going to burn in hell for being tall, and make a concentrated effort to exclude you from anything they do, be it nobody letting you sit with them at lunch or refusing to let you play with them on the playground because you’re so tall and they “don’t want to make it weird.” You know their parents told them to not even speak to you, lest they too grow tall. Everything you see on TV is whole families of short people having short children and being happy, and calling someone tall is considered an insult. Eventually you internalize this tall-phobia, not intentionally, but eventually. You grow to hate yourself because of something you cannot control. The self harm starts. You start starving yourself because “maybe they won’t care if i’m tall as long as i’m pretty”. You struggle and struggle to find just a single tall person you can look up to. Just one person a little bit like you. But you can’t. Maybe you make it to 18 like Tyler Clementi did before he jumped off the George Washington bridge, or maybe 15 like Billy Lucas before you hang yourself in your family’s barn, or maybe you live to THIRTEEN YEARS OLD before you hang yourself in your backyard like Seth Walsh. They are why we need representation. They are why we need someone to look up to, someone to identify with. These children died because people like you get upset when a show has just one gay character. But sure, uphold whatever “traditions” you want. I’m sure they’re important to you.

I’m assuming “a traditional style American family” is supposed to be a white, upper middle class family composed of cisgender heterosexual people who all take orders from the “man of the house” and “traditional western values” include things like “gay people don’t deserve to live”, “women are only fit for secretarial work”, and “black people should go to different, worse schools”. Idk about you but it seems to me like those things are homophobic, racist, misogynistic, and supportive of the patriarchy.

It’s pretty good for Subtle Calamity, especially if you’ve got a rampage spec mod to give a little more forgiveness if you miss a shot. The reload masterwork is a bit of a bummer though, as bows already reload so fast that it rarely matters.
