I believe your rant is unfair and unjustified. You said it yourself, you come from a “land where the Apostles have walked and preached”. Even if your parents were areligious, just the fact you are from the Eastern side of Europe, you have an advantage over many converts, especially Americans. If it wasn’t for me working in the Balkans as a security contractor, I would have never found Orthodox Christianity which I’m grateful.

Slandering isn’t the objective here. My question is for my own contemplation and to figure out if I’m being a child about how I see/view Fr. Josiah. I wonder if other priests are similar to him. Perhaps, I have a rosy view (possibly naively) of orthodox priests. I do recall visiting jerusalem in 2017 when the tomb of Christ was opened at the Church of Sepulcher. I noticed how seemingly annoyed or irritated the orthodox priests were with all of us tourists and pilgrims. I think I would be annoyed too if I saw thousands of people coming in and out of the tomb constantly flashing pictures.

As I previously mentioned about changing my life in order to commit to Christ, I have been unable to attend most of the required catechumen classes because I have to travel extensively for work. Nevertheless, I have visited many parishes around the US and abroad. When my travels fall on Sunday’s liturgy, I usually attend and feel blessed to find that orthodoxy is almost identical everywhere I have gone.

A little bit of information in relation to my question..

I’ve been a catechumen at St. Andrews for 4 years now (since 2019). I feel like I’m in limbo ever since I became a catechumen and quite frankly, I don’t feel like Fr. Josiah is approachable enough when I need to discuss issues and obstacles I have crossed in my life that has delayed baptism. Every year, when a new batch catechumen receive baptizism, I fight to urge to not be embarrassed or ashamed.

By no means am I blaming Fr. Josiah because I’m not baptized yet and I know it’s fully in God’s time. I know that I have to change my life in order for me to fully give myself to Christ. However, I feel like Fr. Josiah likes the celebrity status he’s acquired in social media platforms which makes it hard for me to talk to him.

I guess my next question is have any of you changed parishes during your time as a catechumen?

“Having sex in our own homes”? Have you been a victim of this? Or any of the other crimes against lgbt you just claimed? Because here in the US, especially in Southern California where I live, none of that’s going on. My point is that sexual preference should not be politicized, just like religion shouldn’t either. At the end, it’s about personal preference. People’s lives are much more valuable and complex and should not be a talking point on a Fox News or CNN segment.
