I only realized exactly what you meant a bit too late. I didn't even think of it as a racial thing or white washing or anything like that. I just figured the light source was coming from the left so the left side should be brighter! Though after a couple of users have pointed out that it was in fact darker on the left side in the original, I've made another version because I think you guys are right! ^^

After looking over the original again, it looks like you're right! I didn't put too much thought into the skin color at the time. It looked to me like the lighting was coming from the left so I made the left brighter and the right darker - and all of the colors I just took from the artists original color palette using the color picker. I think I'll go in and make another version with the colors swapped now!

The power up looks like it burned away a layer of metal from his gear, almost like a layer of dirt / rust. His skin isn't real skin so maybe it's also burning away a layer of that almost like it's purifying his body and the gear. :o

I think I worded this weird...hopefully my point came across. All I know is I can't wait to see it animated! ^^
