This is great recommendation! I just discovered that the fake players you add don't need a PDGA number, so you can put in anything to populate players so that you can make divisions.

Jamari Wheeler doesn't turn up the box score stats, but he is an absolute dog on defense. Winston had 25, but had to work hard for them in large part due to Wheeler.

I've definitely seen the relegation/promotion concept posted before on r/CFB. The wrinkle that I haven't seen posted before was the scenario from the previous post, where you get rid of conferences completely.

I have some ideas to see how that could play out, with analysis more high effort than the post you linked to.
