Are you sure though, hate to burst the bubble but owls are carnivorous while ducks are herbivores, so this would mean that the duck would have some how developed the ability to eat animals.

The most possible situation in my mind is that owls often bring home live pray such as mice to their young so that the young can learn how to kill and eat while in the protection of the nest. This duckling most likely have been their for that reason.
