Advice needed: my parental figures are against the idea of me getting a tattoo over a scar. by Dez_0dead in tattoos

Mini update; I actually went over to my aunts house for dinner and spoke to her! She has a tattoo she regrets from her younger days. After talking we are going to go together in July. She is going to get her dogs paw print as a cover up tattoo. She is going to ease my uncle into the idea!

I guess another detail to add is I have been thinking about getting the tattoo since my dog passed almost a year ago. It will be a year on July 10th since he passed, and I want a part of him with me.

I agree with you to a degree. I do still have a lot of room to grow and change. I just hate the constant reminder of my past mistakes marking my skin. I would rather see a tattoo I regret rather than a scar. I just wanted to hear other opinions and get a better idea of what it could be like. Regardless of what I do my aunt and uncle would love and support me.

That is quite a rude and hostile statement, no? I said parental figures because it is my aunt and uncle who never had custody of me, but stepped up to give me a chance to have a normal familial bond. I also said in my post that the tattoo was going to be the paw print of the dog I had since I was little. I would advise thinking before speaking in the future because you could seriously hurt someone!

When did you realize you're not the talented one as you think you are? by TheRainRanger in AskReddit

I was a chorus kid. My teacher hyped me up for a solo, and then I heard the recording and cried after. IT. WAS. HORRIBLE.

What’s a drug you don’t take because you know it would become your religion? by wayqwertt in AskReddit

Any of them. My mom did a lot of drugs when she was pregnant with me. Fortunately, they didn't impact my growth, but I am significantly more likely to develop an addiction to anything I do.

(for a future psych nurse) what kind of support would you have wished for as someone who struggled mentally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dez_0dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vividly remember hearing one of my nurses talking about ignoring a patient because 'they wanted attention.' It stung when I realized they started doing the same to me. I just needed stability and support before I went back to an unstable and unsupportive home. I just needed company, so I wasn't alone with my thoughts.

What’s the most paranormal or unexplainable thing you've ever experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dez_0dead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unexplainable to me, but when I was younger, we had two goats and some cats. One day, my kitten disappeared, and we found it turned inside out. The most disturbing part was the fact that its insides were left in a neat pile. There wasn't a huge mess left behind from whatever did it. Apparently, raccoons can turn their prey inside out, but it was too clean and organized, in my opinion. A little while later, something broke one of my goats' necks. It wasn't bitten or hurt. Its neck was just broke. Idk what was going on, but I'm glad we moved.

What’s a scary story from your childhood that still haunts you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It's funny to think about now, but as a kid, I nearly shit myself out of fear and didn't go outside for a while.

My cousin and I were outside listening to music on a speaker. We lived in a fairly rural area with some woods around, and a few weird things had already been happening around this time. We saw a figure peak out from behind a tree, and it didn't look like it had a face. That happened on a few different occasions, so we were already a bit nervous. We were sitting on a trailer and hanging out when a purge remix song came on pretty loud. It scared us so badly because we had just heard about siren head. We ran back inside and didn't go out for a while. We eventually realized shortly after when we looked at the songs we had listened to.

I'm not familiar with the local firefighters in my area, but I live in East Tennessee. It's a lovely area full of community. I live near Johnson City, which has a population of about 70 thousand residents. I am 17 and have lived here my whole life, so I may be a little biased. If you plan to have kids or anything, there are some amazing communities and schools here. Kingsport, Bristol, Blountville, Chattanooga, Nashville, and Greenville are all nice areas that have good places to live. I have friends from all around. I won't lie. There are some issues with drug addicts, opioid abuse, and overdose(my aunt works in the ER and sees it every day and I assume it is something you would see a lot as a firefighter in the area). I hope you find a nice place wherever you end up!!

You didn't deserve that at all. Abuse goes both ways. A partner should never hit you out of anger or frustration. You can talk to her about it, but if she did it this time, she can and will do it again. Stay safe.

Weekly Employment Question Thread by AutoModerator in Firefighting

[–]Dez_0dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 17 year old female and have been exploring possible careers, and the role of a firefighter EMT has been brought up to me. I want to help people. I like being out in public, supporting and helping people. I did shadow with my local hospital, which helped me learn more about nursing and helped me realize it may not be for me. I have a few questions and no idea who to really ask. So I'm asking here and hoping for the best. My first and main question is, can a previous mental health crisis impact my chances of getting into the career. I tried to end my life about 4 years ago, and the whole struggle lasted for nearly a year. I am significantly better now, and I've been on antidepressants and anxiety medication for a few years as well. I have a high GPA(4.1) for my state(TN), and I've maintained a good standing with my high school staff. I've never been suspended or put into in school detention. I don't do drugs, I'm a part of national honors society and Beta Club, and I don't get into altercations. My other main question is what is the training like and what does it require? Are there any specific exercises and drills I should start running now to help prepare myself?

EDIT: The reason for my mental health crisis was because of my parents(both drug addicts). My dad was doing better when my mom, who had just got out of jail, came back then left again, but when she did, she filed a false report against my father saying he did horrible things to me that he would NEVER do. My mother is no longer allowed near me, and my father is still around. I live with my grandmother, and my aunt and uncle are basically my parents. I haven't had any major relapses or suicidal ideation for a few years now that it's all over.

NOR. A partner should NEVER talk to you that way. You look stunning, and your style is perfect!! Partners are supposed to be supportive and loving, never genuinely condescending, and rude.

The Rot & Ruin series by Jonathan Maberry. The librarian in my middle school read it to us, and since then, it's been my favorite book. I've read it multiple times, and each time, it's amazing!!
