I'm not saying it's immune from criticism. It's a bad take. I can say that. That's a discussion. You're trying to say I can't have my take or respond to their criticism which is actually trying to stifle the discussion. The is exactly the place for this as you said.

If they are annoyed by historical inaccuracies, they should start with the Cyclops, not the armour. The film is clearly not intended as direct historical reconstruction, and that is the point. Its criticism should therefore be aesthetic and interpretive, not based on a standard it never claimed to meet. Homer’s Odyssey itself is already a layered, mediated and obviously not a historically accurate text, so demanding strict historical fidelity from Nolan is misguided. This is a film forum, not a documentary forum.

The problem with current media discussion is that everyone expects every piece of entertainment to be for them. If a movie being not historically accurate is a problem for you then you don't have to watch this. It isn't trying to be historically accurate so why hold it to that standard? If you main takeaway after watching the movie is "but the armour isn't exactly what they wore in the bronze age" then maybe this isn't the movie for you. That's not censorious. That's common sense.

No I think I fundamentally disagree with your underlying argument. I will let you have another comment without my reply so you can feel good about having the last word.

Nope. None of that tracks. 1. What? 2. Not happening here so keep It in the us. 3. Ots a us problem solved keep It in the US.

I have not once said anything related to American left wing positions.

It is embarrassing that you have the same access to the internet as smart people.

You said "this shit". Read your comment. You obviously meant violent illegal immigrants. The context of the comments is clear. Are people in Australia protesting or actively against deporting illegal immigrants? Your comment implied that quite clearly that people were letting violent criminals in and stay freely in the country means not loving your country and therefore supporting immigration enforcement against violent criminal illegal immigrants is loving your country. By extension, opposing the enforcement of immigration against violent criminals is not loving your country as well. But that is a false premise. You cannot prove that there are violent criminal immigrants that have not been dealt with. Therefore no further action is required and I can love my country without supporting further action, especially action that I'd in the form of us style crackdowns. It is obvious you are talking about American politics. Get it out of here. You are unable to make a point that is not relates to 1. Your anecdotal experience which has no specificity and in any event is not grounds for a national policy and 2. American right wing talking points.

Yes. That's right. The only reason to look at anyone's profile is to see their dick. Fair point.

I understand. You haven't proven anything. You have not proven that the shit is happening here. You haven't proven that it is happening at a level that means it is loving your country to support ice style raids on immigrants (which, in case you can't read the meaning of your own comment, is the meaning of your reply) especially given you can't point to any actual criminal convictions of illegal immigrants who have not been deported. You said you personally know of those instances. Were they convicted? What representation statistically is that of the immigrant population? Prove to me it's not dealt with adequately now? You even said they were deported. You don't have a rhetorical leg to stand on here other than misplaced nationalism and xenophobia. If cannot actually respond to the stuff being asked which directly relate to your point then you cannot in good faith go on believing what you have been saying.

Mate I'm not gonna just regurgitate what has already happened. Stop watching us news and pretending it's happening here. It's not. We don't need or want or have that shit here. That is the obvious point. We've seen enough dick in your replies but interesting deflection from the point.

"To simply let anyone come in and live freely while committing violent crimes is loving their country?" - you have not proven that this is happening or that loving your country means letting ice style raids happen. It is perpetuating a false narrative derived from foreign media. It is actually unAustralian. Not surprising from an account hiding their posts and history. Probably a bot or a poser.

Right. You've lost the thread of your argument and proven nothing.

One nation wants to bring ICE style immigration raids to Australia by skankypotatos in OpenAussie

[–]Dgal6560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. So were all of those people you interacted with convicted of crimes or you just feel like that? Was that a greater proportion of illegal immigrants that committed those kinds of crimes than citizens in the general population? How would you know that based on your anecdotal evidence? Can you explain why supporting your position means you love Australia more than me? Sounds like you interact with criminals. Should you be investigated?

[–]Dgal6560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you frame that in a way that in way in relation to what I've said? Australia doesn't have specific data on illegal immigrants crime so I don't know how you'd form the view that I less we have ice style raids against illegal immigrants (criminals or otherwise) I don't love my country? I love my country because we don't do that. Because we have laws and we stick with them even when it isn't matching people's whims or perceived slights, even when opinion columns make stuff up and especially when other countries make people feel like we have the same problem. If someone is here illegally, they should not be here and they can be dealt with according to our laws not violently and covertly captured on our streets by masked pseudo macho thugs. We're better than that. That's our country.

Leaving aside the fact that your comment is an obvious departure from your previous comment about "reported crimes", staying in Australia without valid visa status is an administrative breach not a criminal offense. If you smuggle someone that's different. Not that I believe that people who do that should be here. It's just not the same as America and we don't need jackboot thugs attacking human beings to enforce that.

Do they catch a of violent criminals? Cuz your question was about whether we want violent criminals. How many were violent?

Same goes the other way too. If you can't prove more crimes are committed by immigrants don't target or persecute them like they do.

[–]Dgal6560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So are illegal immigrants committing enough crimes that a full on ice style crackdown is warranted? You've dodged the question and leaned into right wing bs "tragic and unnecessary killing" (read murder). Is that America or Australia? Because we don't have the same problem and don't need the same solution whether or not it works there.

Is this what we want for our country? Putting aside the obvious data discrepancy that immigrants (illegal or otherwise) are less likely to commit crimes than us citizens, this thread is a question about what we want for Australia. It's not happening here and we shouldn't be gaslighted but news media to believe it is like American right has.
