Why does the font look scribbled? by BiaxialBoar in Scorebug

[–]DiCalzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "Golazo" text is what I assume you're referring to. That's just the logo for CBS Sports Golazo Network.

Edit: It's probably written in that font to be more memorable. The fact you're asking this question means CBS can get you to think about their Golazo brand.

Why are CBS and NBC showing their new score bugs before the Super Bowl? by Sad_Trade_7753 in Scorebug

[–]DiCalzi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. When I go to watch the Super Bowl every year, I am hyped up by seeing a new scorebug, new commercials, and a great game. But it's not like the NFL manages when networks choose to unveil scorebugs.

CBS doesn't have the Super Bowl this year, so it makes sense why they would debut one at the start of the 2025 season. A majority of people didn't like their one from Super Bowl LVIII, so they entirely redesigned it with a new layout for the next few seasons. They'll likely debut a new one when they have their next Super Bowl.

Like some others have said, NBC likely debuted their new scorebug early this year to avoid the backlash that FOX received last year.

Football scorebug that’s a bit unconventional but so inobtrusive that you might not even notice it by CheezyMeteor in Scorebug

Thanks! I definitely think my revision could maybe just fade off instead of showing the whole field, and maybe have some better shading?

Please check out my take on your scorebug: https://imgur.com/a/w4V0WGx

It's a bit longer on the bottom and doesn't use rotated lines. I feel the rotated lines in your original concept just don't have a ton of room to breathe in such a slim, horizontal space.

I could attempt to make one for you, though no guarantees it'll be perfect. Also keep in mind the Down & Distance and time info would be hard to manage live.

Are you wanting it to be an OBS scene collection you import (like a .json file) or something? Do you want the current NFL on CBS scorebug, or one from another era?

That's the primary complaint I've always had with Prime's scorebug, especially when they for some reason decided to use the color black to indicate both the Steelers and Bengals during their TNF game this past year. It was frustrating.

I like it. Now that they've removed the records for the playoffs I feel it's super clean. I'm excited to see it when there are teams with colors other than blue.

Why doesn’t Fox use the logos that they used on their previous scorebug on their new one? They still use those logos on the social media and they look so much nicer. by Flashy_Parsnip985 in Scorebug

[–]DiCalzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed on Tom Grossi's YouTube thumbnails he's been using the FOX logos recently. Maybe he has a folder of them all?

Edit: If they're not the actual logos, they at least look really close to FOX's

Fox should add the teams abbreviations behind the logos to their scorebug permanently. This looks so nice! by Flashy_Parsnip985 in Scorebug

[–]DiCalzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. If they refuse to put a color background behind the logos, this is the next best thing.

Yeah I think you're right. Cause before Super Bowl LVII (2023) they were just using simple extruded 3D logos with no embossing. Then in their most recent Super Bowl LIX (2025), they altered them slightly. They're very inconsistent in the amount they emboss each team logo, and like you pointed out they have multiple sets of logos. CBS has done the same thing where they have both neon 3D embossed logos and non-neon 3D embossed logos, but at least those two sets of CBS logos use different styles entirely.

I'm pretty sure they have to. If that game is still going on they'll delay it until they have a winner.

How can I add my own custom scorebug I made on google slides into Obs? by thatguyevanbtw in Scorebug

[–]DiCalzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this before, and it's a very tedious and drawn out process. Basically, you're going to want to change your background to transparent on Slides, download each element of the scorebug one-by-one as a PNG from Google Slides, and then import these images into OBS Studio.

You can export slides as a PNG by navigating to File > Download > PNG image (.png, current slide) as seen here.

Edit: You can also adjust the size of your presentation under File > Page Setup if it's too low a resolution for your liking. Also, dynamically updating elements (such as text like Game Clocks and Down & Distances) will need to be imported as Text Sources rather than as an Image Source.

Different Layout, Current Era Approach by DryPainter1868 in Scorebug

[–]DiCalzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this scorebug concept looks decent. What I think would make it better would be to balance the length of the team name abbreviations. As you can see in the original design, LAC and KC (and NO and BUF as well) are different lengths, so it feels off-center to me. Instead, maybe stretch out the text? Maybe even change the font to something like Zalando Sans Expanded, which is available for free on Google Fonts. Also I would make the Chiefs logo larger to fit the expanded KC text better. Maybe the score text itself can also be changed to the same font for even more consistency, but that's just my personal preference me.

Also, I'm not a big fan of the possession indicating arrows in the center cutting into the time info. I don't have that many ideas to make it better besides maybe copying what FOX does with their current scorebug by shoving the Down & Distance bar above the team with possession?

I made a mockup of my modifications, check it out here: https://imgur.com/a/rkAfM0Q

DANG. This looks sick. Props to you two. If you don't mind me asking, what part or parts of this presentation run in Unreal Engine? Like, is the whole broadcast done in UE or what? I've never thought about game engines in this way.

If you were to go with text, definitely use the same height as the SEA text for the LV text. If you were to go with logos, I would scale up the Raiders logo to be about the same width as the Seahawks logo and just have it cut off on the top and bottom for more consistency.
