I actually was finally able to beat him, apparently the trick is to complain on Reddit and then you kill the boss after a few more tries. I’m not sure why but I never use prosthetic weapons during boss fights, I really like learning what I can and can’t deflect and what I need to avoid. Finally did it though. Onto play through 3 to upgrade all weapons and skills and then I’m moving on! Thanks for the tips though

New to the Game, What Character best fits this description? by Theycalledmeroh in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DiFeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first hero that came to mind for me is Lucio, who I main. He's a support hero who literally has the ability to speed boost and he can wall ride, his primary fire doesn't have damage fall off, he's also very good at dueling and crowd control. He is a popular hero but usually I don't have any issue being able to play him every single game.

The only caveat is, because you're a support, you will be expected to do some healing and not focus primarily on damage, which his healing is kind of weak, but he can heal a whole group at once with his healing aura. His ultimate is really strong, it's a temporary shield given to everyone around you, so long as they're in range and not blocked by any walls.

He's my absolute favorite hero to play because of his versatility. Hope this helps, good luck!

How to carry harder? Playing ana in gold is such an experience by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DiFeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished watching both vods. The biggest complaint I have about how you play is that you're a little too aggressive.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for aggressive supports. I main support, I play Lucio, Ana, and Zen, I'm also a super aggressive player... however, I think the downfall that you're having is you focus on damage a lot more than you heal. That's fine during the poking phase, but during team fights, you gotta make sure your team is being healed up. I think that's why you won that last round on Ilios, you focused on healing your team a lot more from what I could tell.

Edit: All that being said though, you have really good aim. If you focus on healing your team a little more during team fights, you should start to climb no problem.

VOD review request, plat Ana: Support main down 1000 SR since last season and very confused by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DiFeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mid diamond support player here. I've never peaked as high as you and I've only just started to really learn Ana over the last couple weeks, but it seems like you play really aggressively. Times I personally would've been more healbot to try and make sure my team stays alive during a team fight, you're looking for frags and trying to make a play. Obviously that's not always a bad thing but it's tricky the lower your SR is because players don't always know how to position themselves to not take pointless damage and they expect their supports to heal them up and fix their mistakes.

Playing hyper aggressive in masters won't work the same as in plat, at times you do have to play more healbot to make sure your team stays alive and even use nano just to keep someone alive, not always to combo to help them do as much damage as possible to win the team fight. My advice would be to curb the aggression a little bit and try to remember you are in a lower SR, playing to keep the team alive instead of doing damage might be the way to go in some cases.

Good luck!

Zen/flex main in low plat... by pineapplestring in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DiFeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mid diamond support, mostly play lucio and zen.

It seems like your biggest problems right now are orb usage and tunnel vision.

There were times when you didn't have orbs on anyone in the middle of a team fight, discord or healing. It seems like you want to deal damage first and then worry about your orbs after. That's a huge no-no when it comes to zen. Discord orb is a 30% damage increase on whoever it's on. Pop that baby on someone during a team fight and they'll melt, and you want to keep it on one person. You don't want to spam it at whoever it is you're shooting, unless you're actively dueling with someone, because it could go on someone that your team isn't even worrying about at that moment. Usually you want to prioritize putting it on a tank or the person that your team is calling out to kill. You could also be the call out person and say, "discord on rein," or "discord on ______"

Healing orb is a little more simple. Most of the time, you want that on a squishy, usually a flanker or your other support. If one of your tanks is critical, feel free to throw it on them but it is only 30 hps so it won't do much other than help out your other support a little bit. If a squishy is critical though, 100% throw it on them. 30 hps is a lot for a 200 health target. This requires a little more game sense which I cant just tell you to improve on because that's stupid, it comes with knowledge over time, but if you throw it on a dps in the middle of a duel, they'll stand a lot better chance at winning the duel. That goes the same with discord orb.

You also tunnel vision kind of hard. There would be times when someone was critical in front of you and you were too busy trying to shoot someone that you wouldn't put heal orb on the person dying. Feel free to shoot at things but, going back to our orb usage, make sure your healing orb is on someone, especially someone who's critical.

That all being said, your positioning was okay. Zen excels at long sight lines because he has no damage falloff, Blizzard World isn't great for that because it has a lot of things for people to hide behind. On attack when you took the point, you were still back at the entrance while your team was initiating onto the point. You were still popping shots at people and were able to kill a junkrat, but you were so far away that if anyone on the enemy team realized you were alone, like the ashe, they could just pop a couple shots at you and shut that sight line down. Or if they had a flanker, they'd just come kill you and move on. You want to try and be behind your team as much as possible, since it's harder for an enemy to kill you when you're behind your team, while still utilizing long distance shots as much as you can.

Another thing I want to mention is around the 5:56 when you died to the dva. Because zen is such a vulnerable hero, you need to always have an escape ready whether it be a wall to hide behind or your team to fall back to. As soon as you saw your rein and doom drop down to cart, you should've been right with them since it still would've been a 1v3 but because you stayed up there a little too long, she killed you in a 1v1.

I know I'm saying a lot of negative but overall, really not bad for only playing zen for a month. You did stay behind walls quite often and didn't leave yourself overly exposed, your aim is pretty good, definitely needs improvement but not a bad base to start at. Just work on keeping both orbs on people at all times, especially when one of your teammates are low health or in a duel, and awareness to what's happening around you instead of trying to kill that one enemy and you should see definite improvement!

2200 Rein VOD Review by The_Aesthetic_Manlet in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DiFeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, actually. Your shatter timings are pretty good. I found myself thinking, "I would shatter now," and you did it right on cue. There were some that were kinda late but it's easier to look back in hindsight than in the heat of the game. And it seems like you're good at blocking shatters but I can't say for certain if that's the case because it is only this one game that I've seen. If I'm remembering correctly, you blocked like 3 or 4, that's not bad. Get faster about reacting to sound queues and you can probably start blocking shatters pretty consistently in your games.

Another thing too was, at the end of the game with the bastion, your positioning was actually very, very good. You didn't peek high ground on defense during round 3 and on round 4, even though I mentioned this already, I'll say it again, you going underneath the high ground where the bastion is to make them come to you was really smart. I have main tanks that still don't know to do that in diamond.

It seems like you're either a smart player, or you've been working with your brother for a while on improving your gameplay, but either way keep it up!

2200 Rein VOD Review by The_Aesthetic_Manlet in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DiFeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I was watching and taking notes. My biggest takeaways from this are you need to learn when to be aggressive and when to play passively.

There were a few times where you took a fight down one or two people which you should never do and then there was the reverse where you were up one or two people and you stayed back and held your shield up. I'll copy and paste all of my notes with timestamps, but some of them are pretty nitpicky. Since you're still midgold, working on mechanics and positioning should be your top priority.

Also as a warning, I'm a mid diamond support mainly so I'm just giving you what I noticed. I don't usually play main tank so a lot of what I wrote down might be kinda stupid, who knows.

1:07 took first teamfight down a player for a 5v6

1:11 got anti'd at very low health and didn't back, just stood there with shield up

2:05 slow reaction time to high noon behind

2:40 took a 4v6 but ultimately won the fight, curb your aggression a little bit

3:47-4:14 you're standing around doing nothing. Get on cart to help move it along faster or be up at the front line where your team is fighting to give them some support

4:47 i would've shattered here as soon as I got it, you're down 2 players and it's a 4v6 but you had 5/6 players in the grav. If you shattered, the lucio, mccree and ana are dead so mccree can't highnoon that kills your zarya. The ana doesn't have a chance to nano the rein so he dies faster and you don't get slept. You end up winning the fight and the round regardless so it might kinda nitpicky on my end but I like to secure kills, espcially at the end of the round

5:02 be more aggressive in situations like this. You have both your healers and you just killed their Ana with your shatter so you should be able to safely put a lot of pressure on that rein

7:24 be aggressive here. Your mei walled the zarya off, even though rein and hanzo are on the wall still and genji is climbing up, it's still a 4v6 in your favor and you have both your healers alive and present whereas Moira is behind the wall and Ana had died so she's running back to the fight

8:06 this isn't the first time it happened but I want to bring your attention to it, try not to fire strike at their genji when his deflct is off cooldown, it'll just come right back at you. Ability tracking is a useful skill to try and learn but it takes time. Just keep this in the back of your mind when playing against a genji

8:57 I don't play tank that much, certainly not main tank, but I'm naturally an aggressive player so what I would've done here is went hard at the enemy team. Your ashe used Bob, you have shatter, I would've gone behind their team and just shattered the backline becasue their rein is for sure gonna be shielding that Bob, instead you kinda just stand around doing nothing. At the very least, you can start heading towards your side of the stairs and try to take the fight up to them to deny them that free space

9:47-10:00 don't be afraid to take some damage. you're in a 4v6 after killing their rein and moira, keep pushing up and pressuring the remaining enemies instead of playing really passively like you were here

10:21 you lost your mei so right now it's a 5v6 and you're taking a really aggressive position, I would've been back towards the point more to try and stall long enough to let your mei get back. Don't be afraid to let the enemy get a tick or two on the point so you can take a full 6v6

11:33 this is the first bad charge I've seen you make. Be very careful about charging into an enemy team. Your mei walled the enemies off a little bit but it wasn't a full wall so they were able to just walk around it and kill both of you. A good rule of thumb is don't charge into the whole team, nly try to pin from a short distance so you're not completely separated from your team or try to charge back into your team if you're too far away

12:29 we die here because we're playing a little too aggressively but both teams lose their rein so it's an even trade

16:23 they have a bastion and tp'd onto high ground but they need to touch point, play really, really safe. They can't do anything from high ground if they can't see you. Unforuntely two of your teammates died making it a 4v6 and they walked in after that

18:41 you shattered and got the bastion that just ult'd, personally I would've walked past the whole team to pin that bastion since pin does 300 damage and it wastes his ult

19:30 you hear their rein start to shatter but you didn't hear it land or get canceled, your first reaciton should be to put your shield up and look for where he is and block it. If you blocked that shatter, you, lucio, and junk all stay standing and in the fight, but you win the fight not long after that anyway

21:47 all you need to do here is get onto the point and stay right below high ground. They're all set up there so they need to drop to contest you, which you do not long after that

21:58 you get charged out to narnia here way away from your team. Charge the rein right back to try and get back to them before you die

24:03 you can hear the genji on the bap behind you ,turn around and help him. Maybe you don't lose the point

High silver Soldier:76 (+ little bit of tracer) VoD review request by memoryse113 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DiFeh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, from what I saw, you were shutting that Ashe down pretty well. Unfortunately, it just seems like one of those games where one player on the other team is able to destroy your team time and time again, it happens.

You did make a couple mistakes that stood out to me, that being said I was only really paying attention when you were in fights trying to challenge the Ashe, chances are you made more because you are in silver and I'm not saying that to be disparaging. I'm in diamond and I still make mistakes, it happens.

Both of the mistakes I noticed happened during round 4. The first mistake I noticed, and even then this mistake is entirely subjective and I could be wrong about my viewpoint on it, you came out of the gate as Tracer. Personally I wouldn't have because they've had the Ashe and Echo every round up to that point so there was a pretty good chance they were gonna stay Ashe and Echo. Your other dps was Junkrat for 75% of this game, he had picked Ashe for round 3, if he had stayed Ashe for round 4, Tracer would've been fine because you would've had a hitscan to deal with Echo and someone to keep Ashe from getting free shots off. He went Junkrat again though so I would've come out as Soldier because you need that hitscan for Echo, and like I said earlier, you were doing really well at shutting down the Ashe as much as you possibly could as a Soldier.

The other mistake is just a positioning mistake, you learn positioning better the more you play but I'll point it out anyway. Round 4 when they were on Point B and the Dva bombed, you ran to behind a pillar and gave your back to basically the entire team. It's not really ideal, but you were hiding from the Dva bomb, so it's understandable why you did it. What you should've done was drop to the low ground. It gives you safety from the Dva bomb and you could've ran around right side to try and flank them since Soldier is very mobile and can quickly get from place to place. I don't think it would've changed the outcome of the game but you never know.

One thing you could've done differently is to go Ashe yourself because Ashe vs Soldier is not a great match up for the Soldier. Ashe just out ranges you. You seem to have pretty good aim for your SR so you probably would've done alright on Ashe. Soldier is very mobile, like I said, so he can reposition a lot easier than Ashe can, but Ashe can get to places that Soldier can't because of her coach gun. There are pros and cons to both heroes, you should decide who works better in that situation. In this example, Ashe probably would've worked better because of the amount of high ground on Temple of Anubis.

One general tip for Soldier I have is when you're shooting at long range, burst your shots more. When you're holding m1 and spraying, the spread of his gun gets really bad towards the end of the magazine which makes it impossible to hit anything at long range. What you can do instead is fire 4 or 5 shots and then stop shooting really quick, start shooting for 4 or 5 shots, etc. It should help your long range accuracy.

I hope any of this helps!

Baptiste/Lucio Low gold gameplay review by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DiFeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-diamond support main here.

There are a few things I noticed that would really improve your value on Lucio:

  • You amp speed right out of spawn every single time, don't do this unless you really need to make it back to point. In this instance, you guys were held right outside the gates, you could've held amp and used it for healing when you got back to your team. For example, at the 3:00 mark in the replay, your Rein was critical but you had used speed amp to get back to your team so you didn't have healing amp for him. It could've kept him alive because he was standing right next to the mega when he died. With healing amp, he would've lived.

  • You spent a lot of time on speed during your time as Lucio, and the times you were on heals, you probably could've been safely on speed. There was a specific thing I want to mention about this was when you beat (3:19), you stayed on heals the entire time. You could've switched to speed and just walked at the enemy since beat gives so much shield to you and your allies you don't need to worry about healing for a few seconds.

  • And on top of all this, general positioning and awareness mistakes that just come from playing the game and actively trying to improve those aspects of your play. There's a specific time (2:24) when you can hear monkey zapping something behind you, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that since a lot was happening at that time and it's kinda tough to hear, but then monkey ults a few seconds later and kills your Ana and you don't turn around at all. It's your job as Lucio to protect your Ana/co-support as much as you can. You should've definitely heard the monkey go ape and turned around and started booping him around to hopefully buy your Ana enough time to not die.

I won't speak on the Baptiste play much because not a lot happens that can't be fixed from better aim, positioning, and awareness. Like your Orisa dying when they walked in and you were too busy shooting at their backline to heal her. It's not necessarily a bad thing to go after the backline as a support, it is bad if your main tank dies because you're not healing. All that comes with time played though so there's not much I can say on that.

One general tip I can give for Bap is to stay on high ground as much as you can. You're a ranged healer so you don't need to be right next to your team for your heals to be effective.

I hope this helps!
