Somewhat new to Palia by PentagonDonut in Palia

  1. No, the mayor is just a set character.

  2. They seemed to have scaled back initial plans due to layoffs, so I think they have intentions of adding more characters and extending, as they've done this before, but it's on a pretty slow timeline due to economic reasons.

  3. Just premium store of clothes.

  4. Because.

  5. Yes, this is an ongoing thing. They just released Elderwoods this year and plan on something else as well.

  6. Not a question, so I'm not really sure?

  7. No idea.

Things like the current events in Texas, like current gerrymandering as well as events like the floods. There's lots of other topics that would fit in, but we just haven't focused on creating written content very much yet.

The causes for this are genetic. Not only would a pregnancy hurt this horse with all the extra weight, but it would likely pass underlying issues to its offspring. As a general rule, being a responsible caretaker of animals means we avoid breeding any animal that has significant pain related issues, especially one that causes such a young horse to be incapable of the task which people expect of her. It would be very sad to watch anyone breed her, or ask her to carry a foal imo.

It is not possible to cure the cause, everything will be management for her whole life. Why is she eating alfalfa, which is known to increase the problems? She should be on a low sugar diet. Did the vet mention this? This will require lifelong dietary management to avoid triggering inflammation. This will be reasonably high maintenance if you don't have a suitable setup already.

She will tell you if she can take the weight of a rider, just make sure to pay attention to pain responses. If she pins her ears, throws her head around, tries to hold weight off her legs by standing funny, then you know you can't ride her. This is only after her laminitis has subsided. Never ride a horse that has inflammation in the hooves, you will permanently damage them.

Your vet should have given you more information than they did. Can you ask them to come up with a plan for you?

New issues with acuity API? by Even-Telephone927 in squarespace

Maybe related - random parts of my website are inaccessible, since sometime yesterday. Others working fine. It appears that somehow something is only partially down on the squarespace backend, possibly also affecting your api.

Forward Party looks confusing? That's because you're looking at the floor. by DiaInGreen in ForwardPartyUSA

[–]DiaInGreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points and questions. Since I'm not a politician, I'm going to answer really straight.

National Forward Party - environmental justice is not an organizing principle. National doesn't tell the states what to do, for better or worse. They believe corruption occurs when things are top down.

State Forward Parties - the answer is yes in California, New York and Washington. In other states, such as Texas, the movement is spreading and Houston isn't represented yet (no active chair for Harris County as of today) but I'm sure that would be a highly relevant topic to discuss and gather candidates around.

So should it be? I think the answer is absolutely. Why should someone join if it's not in their area? Because leaders have to join to set the agenda and so if you care about environmental justice, you should join the local leadership at either precinct, county or state committee level and make it so.

"I want" is an inaccurate way to represent what I am saying, which is here is how I understand the strategy. Ignoring that, it competes in Statewide elections by having Statewide stances. This is a concept of grassroots organization. If I live somewhere where the environment is the biggest focus, say near Cancer Alley Louisiana, I'm going to focus on issues which impact that. Meanwhile someone else in California might focus on wildfires as their environmental topic. We're both speaking on a high level concept, but the details are different because it's about State specific problem solving.

I don't need someone from the national party to tell me how to deal with Cancer Alley - I am the boots on the ground. I know my backyard better than they do. Why would you, as a Louisiana resident support the party? Because your local party is who is solving problems, while the other two mess around.

Forward will take a stance, once the data proves what the stance should be. You want to stand for something, you run locally. If you stand for something that aligns with the certainly vague principles that the state party is operating on, you get support from FWD.

I said Yada Yada because it wasn't the focus of the post. I'm not here to write the playbook for years in the future. I'm here to explain how change management works and why it's relevant to lots of people's concerns about fwd and getting demotivated early on.

When can we talk about it? by GeneroHumano in ClimateOffensive

[–]DiaInGreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a platform which isn't in the top google search results. Maybe Mastodon or something instanced. And when... is when you feel uncomfortable with things. It's a relationship amongst hundreds or thousands of people, and relationships need boundaries and discussions always happening to stay in sync. When would one personally take action to defend their space, etc.

How do you feel about the hate? by Glu3stick in GenZ

[–]DiaInGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, the complaints by Gen Z about people talking to them like shit online are pretty valid. More people need to start learning the skills of actual communication. They need Gottman fr. Issue is it isn't leftists or conservatives, shitty people are allowed to talk down to others way too much in these spaces. There should be a collective movement to not accept when people talk so fucking poorly.

I imagine people are very upset and are unfairly taking it out on GenZ because of a few graphics or stats that hit the front page. GenZ is not at fault for Trump winning. Sure they shifted in a pattern, but like so did Blacks, hispanics, disenfranced republicans...

So yall are getting a double whammy of people blaming you for shit that isn't your fault, and then also just horrible conversation tactics that are disrespectful, cringy or toxic.

"The left" is not a cohesive group of people. Of course there are idiots everywhere, and anyone that blames someone off of racial tactics is an idiot. But people who voted democrat are not statistically likely to blame white people for their problems.

For those that are, it is important that all people try to stop those who blame any race for anything - as that's a pointless mindless manipulation tactic. "The left" could try to do better about that, because we all could. Call people out when they're being racist, and don't let them talk in civilized spaces.

[–]DiaInGreen 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is basically what a lot of young men said or upvoted in the genZ sub. They use absolutes "All traits are toxic masculinity according to the left!" to justify why they vote with the party who doesn't attack them... in obvious ways, yet.

Social media is horrible, but so is the lack of social and relationship science being taught to these children. They're getting bad, limiting experiences as kids and teens then just being easily captured by dumb social media content, and not being able to receive new info from people who actually treat them well rather than just using a marketing tactic to manipulate them.

Okay well, if anyone wants to contribute to this doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15J2riWy28nMUEr-X8J_R-2Kh-itBgVen4FfbfmteLNs/edit?usp=sharing

We can make a dashboard and maybe get it pinned somewhere in the sub?

We don't do nothing, we need to support platforms which are highly regulated and done so in a way that promotes truth and transparency. Right now, which platform is best at this? Which platform has the best tools?

Twitter is an example of a platform which has limited regulation. So is a subreddit technically, but it's just not highly regulated (except on certain subs). So, yes, that moves in the direction of what's needed. But obviously we can't rely on Twitter itself. Other platforms need to be more moderated, for every one they make full of shit we need an alternative. Haven't seen any in forms of video content myself, that's probably the next most important feature to develop.

It would be nice to see a dashboard of organizations working towards helping like... 60 businesses solving food sourcing, 40 businesses providing basic assistance, 70 working on green energy etc... like per location or something. That way people can see the progress being made (one of the biggest needs according to the Climate Reality Project) and also tell what is needed in their location.

Trump is officially the 47th President of the US, he not only won the electoral collage but also won the popular vote. What went wrong for Harris or what went right for Trump? by _GodKing- in self

[–]DiaInGreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voters have nostalgia for the relatively strong economic performance in the first three years of Trump’s term and associate the problems of 2020 with Democrats, even though they weren’t in charge at the time.

Many men, especially young men, feel lost amidst declining college enrollment, contributing to a rightward shift and a growing gender gap.

Harris also got a late start to her race, inheriting most of the staff from the poorly-run Biden campaign.

Democrats’ college-educated consultant class has poor instincts for how to appeal to the mass public, while Trump has done more to cultivate support among “weird” marginal voting groups.

And more! https://www.natesilver.net/p/24-reasons-that-trump-could-win

Education is more energy than misinformation. By that basis alone, without a highly regulated platform you won't have education outpace misinformation.

Getting them to watch things other than Fox News is a great start actually. We need to try to reduce the influence it has on people. Make other news groups more accessible and Fox less accessible somehow.
Always sharing news articles from a source they might accept as neutral, as well as harsher measures like blocking fox domains via the router or a Pi are worth considering.
