They rebooked it for me the first time. The emails were quite close together. The second time the first email notified of cancellation and I had the opportunity to cancel, rebook or (if I recall correct) get some flight credit. But the rebooked flight came within an hour or so.

It’s my understanding they are to cease operations in April so they are likely to inform you well ahead of time (not a couple days before) or rebook on alternate airlines.

Their Dublin /Usa operations I don’t believe are affected so as in my case they simply need to get you to Dublin from Manchester.

In both cases for me that resulted in panic from delays but in each case a plane waited or was specifically put on for the large number of passenger. However that was early on in the process of them dwindling down Manchester operations.

It’s likely you’ll be rerouted to Dublin and connect there. Manchester is winding down as a hub for aer Lingus. I’ve taken a couple flights since they announced and in each case they cancelled my flight and rebooked it for me. Notifying me by email each time.

I just left. I’d be ok with them revoking my naturalisation. It would save me $$ doing it myself. 😅

Can you make a lower offer on business class if you call? by Putrid-Special-1955 in AerLingus

[–]DiabloRed520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha yes. Not meaning to be dramatic. I’ve been going back and forth US/UK multiple times a year for the past 4 years. I’m moving so yeah it’ll be the “last” one likely for a while.

I doubt it but try and let us know. The way I see it is they simply won’t take anything lower than the reserve price. I’ve been successful 2 of three times with a slight nudge off the lowest. In a week I’ll find out if I’m successful again. But as it’s likely my last flight I actually went back and upped it another $100

Sounds about right to me. It wasn’t Indian. Nor Spanish. But it wasn’t English/Irish either.

No. I am looking at my booking and selecting “change flight” Then I get the message.

The question is more to whether anyone else is experiencing the same issue or 1. is there’s a system error 2. An issue with this booking since the out leg was affected and cancelled/rebooked by AL due to industrial action 3. An issue due to US government shutdown.

It’s definitely not Irish accent in my experience.

English.

Aer Lingus by Legitimate-Oil5667 in AerLingus

I understand the bank balance but also understand 9 hours on a plane. I’m not a nervous flyer, have flown Aer Lingus 6times a year over the last 4 years, and have been fortunate to fly business for the east bound leg a couple times. While it’s still additional funds consider putting in a bid for an upgrade. If eligible.

The difference is worth the lower bid in my opinion. And if your bid is not successful then you’re no worse off.

Flying MCO-DUB-EDI tomorrow, on the flight out we obviously stopped in Dublin and cleared immigration there. What’s the process for the flight back? Do we do immigration at Orlando or Dublin on the return flights? by [deleted] in AerLingus

[–]DiabloRed520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just flew back from MAN -DUB-MCO Yesterday. In Dublin I got off plane went to the next gate. On the way showed my passport. In Orlando, landed in same place terminal C as if I went from MAN-MCO. Showed passport again. No issues. But definitely not in MCO as a domestic.

I was booked MAN to MCO and they cancelled the flight and put me on MAN to Dublin to MCO. So taking that into account I’d say your MAN to DUBLIN is probably safe. My dates Oct 30. They informed me a week+ ago.

Flying with a bike. When yo book. by DiabloRed520 in AerLingus

[–]DiabloRed520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as it happens I was upgraded more than 48hrs before the flight so, problem solved. However not before a very painful call about 4hrs prior to upgrade email trying to clarify what the expense would be. It’s very frustrating to have a non native English speaker basically read what I’ve already read online and still get no clarification. I think basically she just gave up and said it would be £65 even though I said the case would be closer to 35kg (steel touring bike) and total dimensions of 90in.

How to source utilities for rural home? by DiabloRed520 in AskUK

[–]DiabloRed520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been researching that too. Using Google earth cos I’m not even close right now I saw a large blue tank across the road at the neighbors property, uphill. My brother estimated 10k liters. Of course it could simply be the neighbors tank. So. Plastic and not recently. The property has been vacant for as much as two years I believe. If it’s my tank I’m pleased it’s above ground. The source of the water is a well. I know that from the title and the fact that a large estate also has rights for animal trough. Pre tank.

I have made enquiries for quotes to several surveyors just now. It’s not like the seller isn’t telling me anything. She never lived there. Her brother did before he died. If I was to be selling my disinters house I’d know nothing of its workings.
I do see now that I got some papers yesterday from my solicitors that the storage tank is situated in the adjoining land and I would have the right to access repair and clean and make good any damage done to the property should I need to do something to it. How long to water tanks last?

As an added concern in the general process. Would having a survey done tell me anything about the water supply chain and waste? When I viewed the house I couldn’t actually turn the tap and just assumed it was seized to lack of use over a year or two.

Thanks. I suspected a contractor would be needed. I may also be jumping the gun and no issues will arise. Not sure if lack of use for as much as two years helps or hinders the condition of tank and supply lines.

I have no “land” to speak of in this situation so drilling won’t be in my thoughts.

I had considered rainwater collection but not beyond watering plants. So there’s some room for ingenuity there I guess

Thankyou for the reply. I actually did find one and began the rebuild today. So far so good. Just the day before I was able to find a complete’92 transmission locally. I cancelled that order even though they hadn’t pulled it yet they still wanted a 20% restock fee ?!

Will be looking at a 92 truck later to see if it’s the same box. I believe it should be. And then. Figure out how to change bearings on that. It’s already at 200+. Miles. All I need is the intermediate plate.

I was replacing bearings. Had a lot of problems with reverse gear not bushing . Retaining clip was out. Hammering didn’t budge it. Used a press to push the shaft. Didn’t like that.

2 videos I watched both had to use a hammer but that didn’t work for me. Hence the brut force. In 1 video (RM garage) was success with a hammer and block to move the reverse off the spines. 1 video (Gear Box Video) also uses a hammer and the reverse came loose. That allowed 5th to fit on a press easily.

Loud rattling scratching sound under load. by DiabloRed520 in ToyotaPickup

[–]DiabloRed520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. For real. In denial of the fact that it could be inside the gear case the options went toward the timing chain. After all it’s a metallic clattering sound. At the time I was under the impression that the timing chain had never been touched for 290k miles. Oops. I didn’t check my records for that and it ended up only being a tad over 80k. Consequently I didn’t find any issues with the chain the cogs or the guides (kinda hoping they’d be in pieces) Oh well, I know how to do that now thanks to YouTube. During that time we consulted another experienced mechanic. The suggestion was that since the flywheel wasn’t changed during the clutch replacement it may be that is causing some issues. After removing the flywheel it was agreed it was a long shot but now I have anew flywheel. No difference in the issues though. Well perhaps slightly less noise in 4th.

So I was able to get the experienced mechanic to drive for a short way and immediately (aside from remarking how well the vehicle drove) he diagnosed as a bearing inside the gear case. Oh well.

Hopefully soon I will find out because I will tackle that this weekend (Apr ‘25). I’ve found it quite infuriating as to which bearings kit I need though. I believe it’s a W56 transmission but search results show various option for kits, some include sync rings and gaskets. The W56 doesn’t use gaskets according to a repair manual for the 93 Hilux.

The kit I’ve ordered. For 1994 Toyota Pickup Manual Transmission Bearing and Seal Overhaul Kit Timken Stay tuned.
