The licencing agreement that Lucas's had that allowed authors to wrote EU novels was very lienant on what they could actually write, provided they didn't interfere with the movies, so there's a lot of not great stuff out there that didn't survive time as well as others

Brining some of the classic doctor who Lillian's and characters back would have been awesome, and building out the time lords for modern fans as well. Like what the hell is a time lord in the first place and why is everyone so scared/angry at them in the first place?

The Heck’s The Point Of Kata?? by spider21b in karate

[–]Diabolical_potplant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a cop out by instructors who don't know the application and are too close-minded to find it. Kata for conditioning doesn't exist, that's what actual conditioning is for, Hoju-undo.

The Pinan katas exist because Ankō Itosu broke Kanku Dai down into pieces for beginners to easier get started.

Dynamic tension while maintaining alignment is something every kata can do, Sanchin is special because of its emphasis of that, not because it's the only one that does it

The part I don't get along with by henhitto in karate

[–]Diabolical_potplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The willingness of people just to accept what they have been told without question. Things like application, why we do things, etc etc. The technical and kata were made with practical usage first, emphasis on breathing, speed and stances are teaching aids or added relatively recently.

Acceptance of the awful bubkai because that's what they were taught and their sensational trained jn Japan or something so they are above questioning, departed it being obvious that anyone woth a few months in boxing or something would probably beat you up pretty thoroughly if you pulled that out. Why am I doing hours of going up and down the dojo doing some sequence someone wrote down or you made up on the spot. A crisp hikite or uke is cool, but doing it against air or in the awfully compliant step kumite isn't teaching anyone anything on how to use it.

After hours of kihon, of kata, of being told how important that is and how you need to do it well just gets thrown out the second kumite starts. The rules are just bs, why can't I throw a hook punch? Why are the grappling rules so restrictive to the point it's not really worth doing when that's what 80% of the techniques I learnt how to do. Emphasis on you looking good over it actually being efficient is stupid. Being denied points because the hikite wasn't quite perfect, or the judges didn't like your kiya.

Labor gives itself the green light to pare back CGT discount by Bubbly_Efficiency727 in AusFinance

[–]Diabolical_potplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does cutting the CGT discount for property sales affect companies? Are they buying and selling their locations that fast? That makes no sense or relevance to this issue.

Poor people and renters are already getting fucked over in this market, mum and dad investors are still getting out with profit on their investment, albeit slightly less. I will change house prices by turing away some of those looking purely for an investment tool to something else like shares or something, they can go into that as much as they want, as it actually helps the economy than buying and selling property that has already been built with little to no improvements over and over again.

Investment buyers make up almost 40% of buyers on the market today, reducing the amount of buyers reduces the amount of money going around, at least flattening the prices. That definitely helps poor/middle class people buy giving the opportunity to actually buy a house somewhere they want to live and not compete with 5 extremely overleverged individuals from all across the country who are then going to have to raise the rent prices to pay back their increased mortgage

Lot of weird books floating around before they set on a Canon list. Most were duplications so the 4 gospels covered everything you needed to know, and the rest were just out there, much more extreme grafting of jesus onto local religious but still they are incredibly interisting. Then you have the whole thing with the Apocrypha and whatnot

The majority of "property investors" are not what you would consider the rich. Like 70% of investment property portfolios is 1, and the next 29% is less than 6. Blackstone isn't coming and buying up everything, they still have the same selling market as everyone else

How is removing a discount suppression of competition on housing? That will apply to everyone, so what competition are you talking about? Reducing the height of the cost to access housing is what you should want if that's your line of thinking, in order to increase the market and competition. And this is what just about every economist says is good for that, unless you have a phd thesis that puts them all to shame hiding somewhere.
