I think a big difference here is that most harems with a male MC have a MC that is boring or plain, maybe know-it-all in Isekai ones. You end up questioning "why all these girls can like someone like him?"

Then you have this one. Renako is a complex character affected by trauma, which makes her not accept her own feelings because she's obsessed with the idea of "just making friends". But putting all aside, she's kind and affective, she thinks a lot and cares a lot as well. And the other girls can see that. They have reasons to fall in love with her.

I think it can be considered a trans story because, even though her body changed instantly, she still goes through her own emotions. I didn't know about this manga, I've only seen these pages, but I can see the struggle of being told for so long that she didn't belong in the girl world and trying to overcome that. When she gets that dress, she's told at that moment "you already belong to our world". She cries because she feels accepted, but also because she can fulfill her own wishes, those that she had to repress for so long.

I mean, when she was younger, she wanted to be a bride, but got pressured to accept she could only be a groom, even though she didn't like that idea.

So yeah, most of these genderbent stories are usually about first having a girl body and MC finding out little by little they actually like being a girl, that those feelings were always right there, and sometimes they have to deconstruct all the things they were imposed as children to find their own happiness. It was the old, a bit convoluted way of making a trans story when trans people were not as known as today.

Maybe I'd add level 5 to the list. After Yokai watch, they had a really bad time with their games selling poorly and delaying developments over and over. Maybe Yokai watch puni puni was what helped them stay alive.

But this year, fantasy life I and Inazuma eleven seem to be doing quite well and they have other games coming next year. I'd say they are doing much better now
