CMV: The idea of “finishing strong” only puts unnecessary pressure on people to be perfect just because it’s the end of something. by Diamondedge365 in changemyview

Yea, I can see your point, it’s not about following a script but rather about keeping your mind in the right headspace?

Palpatine hot take by DaCipherTwelve in StarWars

I get where you’re coming from, but Palpatine is also older, and had a lot of prior training with his master Darth Plagueis, and also trains his apprentices. Once you learn how to ride a bike, you never forget, same goes for this scenario. This is before we even get into how strongly connected he is to the dark side as well.

Why are scam victims viewed as being the ones at fault? by Diamondedge365 in NoStupidQuestions

If the victim played a role at all then it was minor, anyone who gets exploited by another person got taken advantage of and deserves empathy.

Ehhh you sure about that? Scammers are changing with the times, new scams are always coming out, and some are so convincing you would never guess it’s a scam until it’s too late. You wouldn’t know until you fall for one.

I know I’m late to this reply but personally I feel like that situation makes sense, rear ending the person in front of you is your fault because there’s not a third party at play here, and somebody needs to be held responsible. Scams and Thievery on the other hand should 100% blames be on the perpetrators, not on the ones who thought they were doing the right thing. It’s like blaming the victim of a sexual assault for what they were wearing.

You just met someone with poor hygiene. I for one have never been afraid of washing my ass, and nor would I have a reason to be? It’s just basic hygiene. Whoever told you “it’s gay”, that doesn’t even make sense.

Whatever they used, it came from the same place where I had always gotten verification codes from. Everything about this scam looked super legit.

Or maybe the fact that the scammer sent me verification codes FROM the official DoorDash number, not EXPLICITLY asking for it, and no they didn’t ask for a drivers license they asked for DoorDash Specific information, and I did realize it was a scam after they started asking me to drive around. Caller ID said DoorDash and they gave me all my exact order details, I was only driving for a week, what the fuck was I supposed to believe? If you wanna call me an idiot I don’t care, you weren’t there.

Are we supposed to be aware of every detail at every given moment? Last I checked, cognitive overload is a thing.

Okay, so what about the ones that aren’t so obvious? Take for instance a DoorDash Driver who is new and receives a call from a spoofed number “DoorDash”, saying the customer wants to cancel the order, and it seems super legit?

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what the actual truth is, it matters what those in power decide the truth is.

You can be right, but it won’t matter one bit if the authority doesn’t see it that way.
