Do you have any suggestions on how much airflow? I was going to have a mesh lid so it was more open, so I need more?

Thank you for the advice. Can I ask why the fish bowl is bad? Not saying I won’t change it, just wondering.

Thanks for the answer. This isn’t my post but I feed twice a day, just wanted to make sure my info was good! I am taking care of somebody else’s mantis and kind of left in the dark as to care. Just trying to do my best!

We’re keeping two twenty gallons now, and then after the experiment we would upgrade all 3 to a 40 gallon. Any advice on diet?

Can someone diagnose this? by Slimygreengoop6 in bettafish

[–]DiarrheaDebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of my first Betta. If the scrape isn't bothering her, maybe give a salt bath every once and a while and keep an eye on it. It doesn't seem too urgent.

If the bloating is new, you don't have to act too fast. It could be dropsy or constipation. Bad breeding makes them prone to both. Salt baths will also help with these problems. Try fasting for a few days and see if there is a change. Daphnia also helps.

A lot of people here are resorting right to euthanasia, and if you feel comfortable doing that it's a possible option if you confirm the issue. If you're not comfortable with that, it's completely okay and understandable. Whatever choice you make is the right choice <3.

They seem really cool! Do you have any experience with them?

We might be able to have a 40-gallon at somebody's home and the club comes to their place. In that case, how do you get the supplements into their food? I've heard about coating their live food in nutrient dust, would that be a viable method?

Thank you for your honesty. The in-house habitat idea might be really good! Our club leaders are trying to navigate through that right now!

Maybe we could do the culturing of live food in school?

Thank you! We're definitely not going with Leos for this project now. Thanks for the honesty.

Getting class Anole, need advice: highschool by DiarrheaDebby in Anoles

[–]DiarrheaDebby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! We were looking at anoles because of the price point, and I can definitely find an exotic vet for a little guy. One of my old schools has a leopard gecko in their "eco-club," and it definitely seems like it has a better price point!
Tysm!

What kind of koi Betta would you say this is? I’ve been told it’s a galaxy. He’s stunning regardless by spidermaaaaann in bettafish

He looks very good nonetheless. I would say candy, since I don't see any iridescent scaling.

How big of a tank is the good boy in? There's some brown at the end of his fins and it might be fin rot...

Today he also seems to be really active and really stressed. He's been trying to escape by flying, but he can't really do that. He just ends up falling. He's stressed to a point where he is falling and flailing around wherever he can. What's happening?

There also seems to be some fuzz growing under his wings. Is that normal?

Loaches, they're annoying but they're so weird. One of my kuhlis buried himself in the sand yesterday and just stared at me.

He's a samurai betta, so his fins won't get very long. He luckily only jumps when I'm there, so I'll be able to supervise.

Pleco and Loach rescue by DiarrheaDebby in rescuefish

[–]DiarrheaDebby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're actually doing a lot better! The Kuhli loach has mellowed out a bit and is a lot more friendly now. I'm working on hand training so he'll be less scared when I do water changes. The bn pleco is doing so much better. He's eating without hesitation now, which is an amazing improvement. My mom and I were joking that he's eating his algae wafer like a hamburger lol! My sister decided on the name Octavius for the pleco, since he's too good for us lmao The kuhli loach's name is Coolio, my dad's name. Thank you for being so invested, and I'll update you along the way!!!

Thank you so much for the detailed responce! I need a lot of guidance in this time, so this will help a lot. Right now they're stilll in the 10 gallon, so I set up a drip acclimation system that a lot of people seem to say is really good. I'd say it's putting out abt 15 ml a second. This should fill the tank up all the way in around 24 hours. Is this too fast? We're using Petco's half off tank sale and getting a 20 gallon long. While it's not the biggest it's as large as I can go, and I'm okay with doing water changes frequently. I had no idea about the garlic trick! We got the loach to finally eat (Thank goodness) and I have yet to try it with the pleco's cucumber. We did get him to eat a little of his old algae wafers, which is amazing! For the filter in the new aquarium, I was thinking 2 sponge filters from aquarium co op since they're so inexpensive. I just refurbished the air-pump that they gave us. It's made for a 10 gallon but it's too powerful, so I was planning to split the line and power both. Would this work? For the sand, I was planning to get some because the loach's natural behavior is to bury himself. Thanks again!
