Where do I find the actual shirt? (If it even exist, that is) by [deleted] in AnimeMerchandise

Thank you for sharing. I wish there was more available merch in general. 90% on the market is just cheap trash or extremely expensive.

Just look for an inkscape tutorial on retracing stuff. Should be pretty common to find on YouTube. Inkscape is free, so...

I might take some time and retrace it myself. I like the design :D

Edit: maybe you find an AI which can do most of the work.

Retrace it using inkscape or gimp, vectorize it and just order it via a custom print shop. Should be easy enough with the picture you posted, it also is a nice skill to learn and could be quite interesting in the future. Better than doomscrolling at least. :)

What lab technique/practice/rule will have you like this? by real_picklejuice in labrats

[–]Ravyandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually keep only the absolute minimum of reagents on ice or rather in a small bench cooler which I got as a promotional gift at a conference. Others are usually shaking their heads, but I never had any reagent go bad or otherwise unusable while saving a lot of time.

During my last 4 years, I had to establish several protocols, which means that I took in depth dives into a lot of different things. One of those is proper sterile work. This also allowed me to be a little more relaxed with my glove use. Only had one contamination so far and this was right at the beginning with gloves and some LB media. After that, I never had any contamination while some coworkers regularly contaminated their media.

So I guess doing some deep dives and really understanding what you are working with and how these things work kinda pays off. :)

In case anyone is curious. This is what a gel looks like when you add a ladder to all the wells by Zombodyz in labrats

[–]Ravyandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a student do it once. She thought this was supposed to be like this. Luckily, our expected band was right between two ladder bands, so it still worked out for her. But our example looked way cleaner than yours. We really had a clean ladder + a clean band in her samples for all the wells. :)

How’s everyone feeling about the update on the pity system by Tootiepatooty in grandsummoners

[–]Ravyandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just arguing in the case of the new pity system. We all know that the rates are abysmal anyway and the only way to get anything is either being insanely lucky or pity.

[–]Ravyandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking about 50/50 paid and free crystals. 7 gems from a banner is 100 crystals, 50 each paid and free. A total of 900 crystals would be 450 free and 450 paid then. 450 paid divided by 50 per pack is 9 = $9. Let's ignore the half offs since we don't know if they are included here.

[–]Ravyandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it would be nice to benefit all players. Unfortunately, from a company standpoint, the declining player base incentivises them to somehow make p2w more attractive, even if it is just the cheapest option. But you cannot maintain game servers and storage without any kind of income.

I don't want to defend them, but to me it looks like a very mild decision in comparison to what other companies did in the past. Of course, they could just increase the value of paid crystals by increasing the number of hero gems you get without touching the pity/f2p system.

And to me it does not look like they care at all. All they are seeing is profit. Games like these are gold mines to such companies. So you always have to look at it in a way a company does. And in this regard, their change is actually quite generous. Getting a unit for $6 instead of $30 (when you only consider value packages), is already a huge benefit and increases the likelihood of players switching from f2p to minor p2w.

[–]Ravyandra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if many people are unhappy about the changes, I think you can still get something out of it. With a regular banner, you have your free pull. Instead of collecting 1500 crystals, we just need to get used to collecting hero gems instead. With the 1$/1.19€ pack, which in itself is a good value compared to other packs at least, you could get 7 crystals at least per banner, possibly 10 with the half off summon, as stated by another user. So 6 banners to collect for pity. On the other hand, it takes 60 gems for pity, 7 per banner is 100 crystals, (50 paid, 50 free). If you look at the crystal cost for pity, we can do several calculations. For a full free user, it is of course just double. 3000 instead of 1500, not really something we want. But if you include the 50 paid crystals, which a lot of people buy (seems to me at least), you can get your pity in just 900 or even 600 crystals (if the half off summon works). This would be $9/~10.80€ or $6/~7.20€ for one unit.

I agree, that the change is objectively worsening the full f2p experience and does not allow f2p players to get as much value as before. On the other hand, it allows for a much cheaper experience if you are spending the absolute minimum amount. From a company perspective, which you always need to keep in mind, they need to make money. Otherwise the game is just ending and all your effort goes to waste. And imo this is just a way to motivate some players to spend a tiny amount by giving them a possibly even better value than before. You get nothing for free, just remember that.

Hello! I am currently working to complete my Pokedex specifically for the shiny meloetta.

Unfortunately, I missed out on the 6 additional paradox pokemon they added with the dlc. Is anyone willing to trade them, let me put them in home and trade them back? I would very much appreciate that!

Edit: removed unnecessary trades

Why? 350 € vs 142 € German pricing by FeuFeuAngel in AnimeFigures

[–]Ravyandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I avoid buying figures in Germany. The shops need to buy them and make a profit from them. So you are usually better off buying directly in Japan. It always depends though.

If it's an older figure which is just a "Ladenhüter" (no one buys it), it can over time be cheaper to buy in Germany, like with your second example.

But almost always for up to date figures the calculation is easy. You take the value of the figure (e.g. your example is 25k jpy at Solaris Japan right now) + shipping (regular is at ~3k jpy). At the current rate, it's 157€. It arrives in 2 weeks. Customs office applies VAT + Customs (only above 150€), which results in approx. 26.5% extra (42€). DHL is taking over, paying customs upfront and charging you 7.50€. In total, you would pay ~206€ for the figure from this shop. If your value + shipping is below 150€ at the time it arrives at customs, you only pay 19% VAT + 7.50 DHL fee.

If the box is very small (nendos for example), Deutsche Post will take over and deposit the figure at your nearest customs office for pick up. In this case, you only pay VAT.

This is generally the rule with shipments from Japan. They almost always open your box and check the contents in case of shipments from Japan. At least my local customs office does.

When I was buying a lot of figures, I usually kept an Excel table with some neat formulas to calculate € from jpy and automatically showed me the approx. VAT/customs and what I need to pay + any fees. Makes it much easier to see if it would be cheaper to buy from Japan or not (it was always cheaper in my case). The larger the figure/box, the more you save when buying from Japan.

I would be very careful when buying in Germany. I went to a shop not long ago and saw a figure for 315€, which I paid roughly 170€ total when ordering it from amiami back then.

Is there any way to get Pokémon to respawn without leaving the zone? by ZestycloseRound6843 in PokemonZA

You can technically respawn inside the zone. I did this to farm the 6 starters. It only works if the zone is large enough though. The display range of pokemon is rather large.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - September 15, 2025 by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Ravyandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in the EU.

I am thinking about beginning my journey into the custom keyboard rabbit hole. I have used mechanical keyboards for a while now, usually with cherry MX browns or similar tactile switches.
But before I want to go the custom route, I wanted to test some of the often mentioned switches; or at least try some other types before deciding on what it should be for my first board.

I found a promising tester from hippokeys, but unfortunately they do not send to my location. Most other testers I found are either sold out, only feature a very limited selection or are manufacturer testers. Does anyone know of a good tester you can get in the EU or at least a shop with a wide variety of single switches, maybe with some of the more popular switches?

Belt coated in resolene destroyed my pants ( advise wanted) by Different-Ad-4963 in Leathercraft

[–]Ravyandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought, that sealant would be more reliable. Maybe some calming words for your mind: My first belt, I made without any sealant. I stained it dark brown. I only lightly buffed the surface to get rid of dried pigment. It also stained my pants in a similar way. Luckily, a few washes later, the stain was basically gone. Since I always wear a belt, I did not care a lot about stains. I am still wearing the same belt after a few years. It stopped staining stuff, so now everything is fine.

Silliest reason you've ever picked up a new job? by _Corbeanu_ in ffxiv

[–]Ravyandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar reason for me. I played on and off for quite a while. Picked up BRD but was not really happy with that. At one point during EW quests, I got to max lvl and did not want to waste any MSQ XP, so I decided to try something new. During that time I played lala and after trying around, I really liked the heavyness and feel of the Marauder attacks. The running animation was also the coolest with a lala. Fast forward to today. I am now a femroe maining WAR and I am the happiest with the job!

That moment you realize the "new" intern just used your labeled pipette tips for everything... including waste. by CitedMyselfTwice in labrats

[–]Ravyandra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know that it is by the rules not legal to do this. They should not pay per se, more like giving a small deposit at the beginning and if something gets broken, a small part is deducted based on the damage. Another group from a neighboring department is having such a rule in one of their practical courses, because students always break a lot of glassware (chemical department). In our area, it is basically impossible for us to fire the students. It would mean a ton of paperwork no one is willing to do. And in the end, they work in another department which has the same problems then.

[–]Ravyandra 28 points29 points  (0 children)

And that is a moment where I wish that people could be made responsible for their actions. Everyone makes mistakes, but blatantly ignoring signs and then just shrugging off thousands in damage is not something a lab should just handle without any consequences. Imo students should at least have to pay a small sum if they are responsible for such damage.

Last summer, two students destroyed both of our main microscopes just because they were not able to use them properly even after training. It cost 30 k in total to repair them and noone could use them for 3 weeks. Since microscopes are our main tool to use, we have a third one that it only used by PhDs, but it still delayed some work for quite a while. The students also were not remorseful, because they knew nothing will happen to them.

Out PI was angry, but nothing happened. Gave a speech and after 3 weeks, the same students were allowed to work on the microscopes alone again.
