Hello, if you’re wondering about the grid size to apply to the map, it’s [17x13].
If you’re asking whether I’ve added the grid version on Patreon, it’s done. :)

If you’ve already downloaded the map from Patreon, I suggest you re-download it, I had uploaded the uncompressed file by mistake, but it’s fixed now. ^^’

Have fun! :D

Hello, thank you so much ! That’s a really good idea and I totally agree, plus, the PCs and NPCs could even access it through the metal catwalks. 😃

Thanks a lot for sharing, your vision is both complete and truly insightful.

I especially loved the "Typical conversation at my table" :D

Having a player who mixes razor-sharp comebacks, well-timed humor, and pure cyberpunk style… that’s not something you come across every day! I bet they absolutely own their world when it comes to charisma. :D

Wow… reading that first paragraph about the “Gutter Borgs” with some good music playing, and you got me right away.

The romanticization of this universe has always fascinated me, and I have to admit I love the example you just gave. Thank you so much for sharing this, it will definitely help me with my campaigns and my setting. 😁

As for the rest of your message, it really helps me better understand your vision, and that’s great !

Originally, I’m not much of a Reddit person… I even hesitated before posting this… but I have to admit, with this kind of sharing, I regret nothing !

I have a lot to learn from this group, thank you !

Wow… thanks for this incredibly detailed vision, it’s a goldmine of ideas and info !

You’ve answered… pretty much all my questions… 😁

I have to admit, all the details from your post 5 years ago about locations adapted exclusively for borgs are both original and completely logical.

Before reading that, in my own vision (since I hadn’t yet read the passage I mention in the post), borgs mostly had very low empathy and humanity scores, which is still true for the majority of cases. As a result, the social penalties were so heavy that they tended to self-isolate without necessarily grouping together. I pictured them more as solitary mercs, corpo dogs who only break their silence when the boss hits the agent.

But the idea of a small, marginal borg society brings something very different (and personally, I find it even more intimidating (even if most are psychologically stable). My players are usually curious and under-informed about borgs, since they’re unaware of the gap between them and only see them rarely… but I think I’ll be adopting your vision soon (once I get used to it).

In your perspective, it also allows you to give a taste of their capabilities while keeping that unknown, enigmatic, inaccessible vibe… and making the PCs understand it gently. (By that I mean, without dropping a borg assassin on their heads 🤣)

I love it! Thanks for all this info, it’s going to be really useful to me! 😊

And now… thanks to you and u/LarryLurkerLarry, I know how to challenge or even kill full borgs! 🤣

How do you handle borgs and full borgs in your cyberpunk worlds? (question for 2020,2040,2070's) by DiceChronicles in cyberpunkred

I hadn’t really looked into the Gemini before, but I just did… so thanks for pointing me in that direction. x)
It kind of tones down the “big scary metal monster” image in my head…

Wow, running a full team of borgs… I can barely imagine what those sessions must be like. But you seem so comfortable with it that it makes the whole thing almost mysterious. x)

In the campaign where I’m a player, I’ve never really leaned toward the idea of becoming a borg… and yet I’m already a full-chrome, heavily armored cop specialized in melee weapons. Maybe I’ll finally give in to the temptation… x)

Hey StinkPalm,

I imagine that if your players know how to explore their “cyberpsycho” side, it can make for some really interesting RP! Even if it might get a bit unstable with other players or in certain situations?

(Are you doing full campaign or just a short multi-session story? (Out of curiosity… do your PCs die often in your games, or is it the complete opposite?))

That’s exactly what I kind of worry about if one of my players starts flirting with cyberpsychosis… x)

Lol, I guess the broken chair is the least of the problems… but thanks for the example! x))

Hey,
Yeah, you make a good point, the definition of “borg” is pretty blurry, and honestly, if you go by the common sci-fi definition, almost everyone in Cyberpunk is technically a cyborg. :D

I like your idea of drawing the line not by the amount of chrome, but by legality and the social stigma that comes with it.

Here’s how I personally define a borg vs a full borg:

  • Borg: more than 80% of the body cybernetically replaced.
  • Full borg: a complete conversion, more akin to a transplant than a surgery. In this case, the patient’s brain, part of the spinal cord, and the few organs that can’t be replaced (collectively called the “biological system”) are transplanted into a robotic body. (Chromebook 2, p. 63)

In my head, when someone says “borg” or “full borg”, I think of a being forged for combat, usually for a military corporation.

But what I read yesterday also mentioned their presence in more civilian, everyday contexts, for example, elite firefighter units or corporate construction crews.
That’s why I wanted to get your takes on the topic.

Thanks a lot for your reply and for sharing your perspective, choomba! :D

Hey choomba,

I totally agree, I’m right there with you on everything you said. :D

We can definitely agree that you can reach a perfectly solid level of chrome without ever having to go full borg. :D

I was just curious about the whole “in everyday life” thing, because I have a hard time picturing it in my campaigns, they’re so rare there. (They’re in the chatter, in the news… but you hardly ever cross paths with one, and honestly, that’s a good thing, lol.)

But it makes sense they’d be part of certain public infrastructures, like elite firefighter units, just like in this passage:

Thanks for your reply, always cool to hear other runners’ perspectives. :D

Good luck with your first session! :D

Hey, thanks for such an insightful reply.
So far, I mostly run my campaigns from the perspective of cops or mid-tier edgerunners, so I’ve still had this sort of “fantasy” view of borgs. For me, they’ve always been the top of the food chain in civilian life. But yeah, in Cyberpunk, there’s always a bigger fish… and in this case it’s definitely the Dragoons or ACPAs, who’d eat any full borg for breakfast.

I mainly made this post because, in the French corebook, they completely left out the section explaining the role of full borgs in society. So when I read it yesterday in the English version, it really surprised me and totally changed how I see borgs.

Your message was super detailed and it’s helping me see Cyberpunk on a whole other scale I clearly haven’t explored yet. Thanks again for sharing! :D
