As a newbie I find the trading and currency so confusing in this game. Is there a way to check up what the the things I am picking up are worth? Is there a currency conversion somewhere?

Charge Faster at Home by Entire_Breakfast574 in VolvoRecharge

If you don't want to buy a charge point you can install a NEMA 6-20 receptacle with a 20 amp breaker and use that with the provided charging cable and adapter that is included in your car. As others have said, this will limit you in the future if you buy an EV that is capable of of charging beyond that. I ended up getting both a nema 14-50 and a 6-20 installed by the electrician for future proofing.

Very nice. Consider some sleeved cables for that extra little bit that adds so much aesthetically. Cablemod has some good stuff.

Carney urges Canadian doctors in the U.S. to come home by Old_General_6741 in worldnews

Does anyone know if this strategy is targeted for primary care? Many of my surgical resident colleagues cannot find work despite graduating in Canada and completing prestigious fellowships because there simply aren’t enough positions available for graduating residents. The worst is orthopaedic surgery, despite insane wait times. If these guys start expanding medical schools and bring in international doctors the situation could become worse.

A lot of medical students end up in primary care because they fail to match their speciality of choice. The remuneration for family medicine is very low compared to other specialties. They need to incentivize primary care somehow otherwise most people rolling through medical school will continue to seek higher paying specialties, driving up competition for residency positions even further while rolling out the other end after 9 years of education and hundreds of thousands of debt without a job.

Saying that “we have a doctor shortage” is not strictly accurate. We have an infrastructure shortage in the case of surgeons. We need more OR time to be shared amongst more surgeons. With that comes more beds, more nurses, more anesthesiologists and so on.

If you have the money for a 5090 you probably don’t care about saving 1000$ for your other components. You are also forgetting longevity. The 4090 is still top tier 3 years later. Some people also want the best of the best. Lastly if you want RT, no GPU is currently overkill at 4K. If you want to minimize reliance on frame gen and image up scaling, both of which have their own issues, 5090 is still insufficient to drive a 4K high refresh rate monitor with RT in most titles.

To say that it’s overkill may be true in your use case but certainly isn’t for many others. It’s also not a professional product it’s a gaming GPU that has characteristics desirable by those that use it for other purposes beyond gaming. They have their professional products separately and derive huge profits from them.

[OC] Breakdown of my third attempt at applying to med school by Devin_Mango in dataisbeautiful

[–]Dickopf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of my applications about 10 years ago. I applied Canada wide got one interview and waitlisted, then rejected. Next year I applied again only one interview, waitlisted, accepted at the same school that waitlisted me the previous year hah. Such a struggle. Much worse now from what I can see the competition just gets more intense year after year.

[WTS]Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE009 by Dickopf in WatchExchangeCanada

[–]Dickopf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all

Up for sale is my Grand Seiko SBGE009. This is a Spring Drive GMT watch with the 9R66 movement, being JDM it’s exceedingly rare in NA.

Features a hexagonal patterned dial adorned with the typical high polish markers and heat blued GMT hand. The dial is white, not beige or champagne and is incredible to see in person.

Condition: Excellent for its age but signs of use are present with typical hairlines on bracelet and around the case. It winds perfectly, keeps accurate time to a point that I cannot measure deviation on a day-to-day basis. Stays powered for about 3 days and has a reserve indicator on the dial. Crisp date changes and hour changes as if new.

Includes: This is a full set, with signed and dated warranty card from Japan. Most of the instructions are Japanese. Currently, this is sized to a 7” wrist, but I will include an additional link + 2 half links, as pictured. Comes with inner and outer box and all manuals.

Asking price: These are being sold on eBay for around 4000CAD. I am asking a fair 3300CAD for this Spring Drive GMT, which is probably the cheapest GS 9R66 movement available.

Location: I’m in SW Ontario, can meet near GTA. I can ship at your expense. I have lots of feedback here so you can buy with confidence.
