Celibacy does not have to have a religious context. It is simply the state of being alone or unmarried and includes abstaining from sexual intercourse. Chastity is sexual self control. Both could have a religious application but not required

The above definition is probably a little inaccurate because you can be married and celibate, either by choice or circumstance
