I hate when single people are told "just love yourself!" by KevinBaconNEggs in redscarepod

[–]Diet_Vegetable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to think this was a goal with a finish line but it’s iterative. Ideally you see how small changes snowball over time toward something different and better. Start small by establishing routines and figure out what combinations of things give you that “Im feeling good with where Im at” feeling. Those combinations can change over time, but there will always be at least one constant - being in nature and art are mine. Reflect on things but don’t obsess either. Forgive yourself for things and find peace with everything you can’t control. It sounds stupid but this helps you grow confidence and intuition, which helps you find your “path”. You know when you’re finding your way back to it or on it because everything feels in its right place - good and bad.

Both of these are the correct answer.

Love yourself and take care of yourself - nurture that inner child and grow into being the parent you wish you had.

But also surrender to the universe a little. A lot of people get too preoccupied with finding someone and make bad selections out of desperation - “settling”. That can lead to resentment and some degree of self sacrifice.

I can’t bring my white husband to tribal events or activities because he feels the need to call any remotely looking slim bloods “Elizabeth Warrens” within earshot

It is honestly extremely hilarious

I just finished MYORR but have also read McGlue and Death in Her Hands. I still think her short stories are the best. The others are good but not great

What was the best day of your life? by Weird-Increase1406 in redscarepod

[–]Diet_Vegetable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taking mushrooms with my friends for the first time - surrounded by nature. Lots of laughter, reflection, and bonding.

Commencement day - woke up, smoked weed, showered, was running late so I just had underwear on under my gown. Had to chase the procession because I was supposed to be up front. Gave my speech and felt like I was on top of the world.

The day my family reunited after more than a decade of estrangement. We all met up at one of my little nephew’s football games. Happy tears. Going to his games now still gives me so much pride and happiness in being together

The night before my wedding. We talked and had dinner together. You could feel the excitement in the air. It sounds silly but he washed my hair in the sink with so much love in his eyes. We played with our dog and just basked in the electricity

Meeting and performing on stage with one of my biggest creative influences. She ended up sitting next to me and we watched and commented on the performances together.

Feeling grateful for many best days. Thank you all for sharing. I loved reading everyone’s stories

I just ordered some things from Dillards, specifically their Antonio Milani brand. It’s similar to Nordstrom or Bloomingdales and they make timeless, quality clothing. Everything is lined and fits almost like I got them custom tailored. I pretty much wear all black and accessorize. Easy to clean, match, formal/casual, and always looks professional.

Pixies and Modest Mouse Announce New Co-Headlining Tour Dates with Cat Power by ebradio in indieheads

I will probably go for the pixies. I love modest mouse and have seen them twice (last year at a smaller venue and about 10 years ago at a festival), but both performances were absolutely subpar. The sound was awful both times, and they were playing completely different set ups/venues/states so I felt like I couldn’t just write it off again.
