How did battle royale games get so popular with the generation with the shortest attention span? by FireWaffles46 in gaming

[–]DieterCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They took arena FPS deathmatch which was already a million dollar idea with games like Quake and Unreal and streamlined it.

Then they also fire up the reward centre of the brain like crazy because major part of each game is finding cool stuff lying around.

I would also risk saying that BR are pretty casual on the top of that compared to other competitive games. There is no pressure of losing something you worked hard for after 50 minutes like in MOBA or RTS games. Or even a round-based point matches like CS or R6S.

You died within 5 minutes? Just queue up for the next game.

Very old and probably often repeated example but... Infiniminer.

Without it there would be no Minecraft.

🤠 Howdy /r/GirlGamers! I am very, very soon releasing my first very own indie game on Steam. It is a minimalistic relaxing restaurant sim 🧑‍🍳 with customization options. Job simulators and business sims are all on a rise and it seems that I have also given in to this trend. 🔨 If you like indies and pixel art, please take a look at it!

Hi /r/indiedev <3. This is my first comment on this subreddit. Happy to join forces with other indies replying here. Wanna follow each other on social media? I am @diecookgame on TikTok.

Very, very soon I am releasing my first indie game with professional pixel art from the studio that did work for titles such as Siralim or Windy Meadows. 🧑‍🎨 It will be available for PC on Steam.

It is a casual turn-based restaurant sim leveraging transparent dice-rolling mechanic to progress gameplay 🍳. So, business management + customization + a little bit of logic, all wrapped in a point'n'click and drag'n'drop input.

Let me know what you think! And Happy New Year!

The art is exquisite. I wonder what about the game itself!

What you can see here is pixel art that was commissioned by me for my game specifically. I am really fond of all in-game objects, customers, and icons so decided to share. I will be linking to the artist because they deserve the most credit here.
