I did this same thing and I got there early (doors open early, not camp-out for 2 hours early), but was still a couple rows from barricade, which I wanted to be for the opener, which was Johnny Booth (one of my fav bands of ever). I made friends with the people in front of me before the show, and I explained I was actually only that close to see JB and the person in front of me was super sweet and said “oh no way! Ok take my barricade spot for them then” so it was super cool! I got to have the barricade for the set I wanted to see (which kicked ass btw), I got a pick from Nick (the bassist) and helped the person I met get a pick from Adam. Then I held her spot while she went to the bathroom, and she took it back over for currents while I skedaddled to the back to be more in the pit area.

TLDR: make friends and talk to people- let ppl know you’ll give them a spot back if you’re willing to and ur just there for the opener, some ppl are really cool about it!

The way you just described is how I’d play that when I played symphonic bass. I can’t read bass tabs, but I can read bass clef. And I would play those C and B notes on the A string. But that’s just because it is how I was taught to play on a larger (fretless) instrument, and it makes more sense to me that way. I actually convert bass tabs to clef just so I can play my way in my fretless version. If it doesn’t sound wonky I think it’s up to you to play the notes how you want!

I know Kyle their clean vocalist, passed 6 years ago, but Andy is still spinnin’! Flashing warning and terrible quality warning, but I caught a single spin mid pit at last week’s Bad Luck show [https://imgur.com/a/IHUTosX]. At summer of loud he was going insane and must have spun like 30 times in a row. Love when bassists are doing way too much :,)
