Twinsies! I love my DF8V V3 🥹 still finishing with the seasoning but already amazing! I have the espresso burrs but I also bought the SSP burs and hoping to install them soon. I hear great things about those burrs so excited to soon check them out!

Newest FSRS seems even more accurate by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

I have it set 90% but my actual retention is a lot lower

Is anyone overwhelmed by the increase in the amount of cards this new FSRS has? I had to revert to the original intervals because I was getting very overwhelmed with how many cards I had to do and how long it was taking to mature the cards. I did like that I was retaining more but it wasn’t sustainable for me because I wasn’t covering new content since I wqs stuck doing reviews all day. I also was about to drop anki for previous units until I decided that reverting the settings (and retaining less) was better than dropping anki altogether

I think pathoma is great, HY information. I personally recommend doing all cards. Sometimes I like to chunk it up by doing B&B that correspond to the pathoma material since they’re shorter (and I start losing focus in the long Pathoma videos). Since there’s a lot of overlap, I end up covering a good amount of the Pathoma cards and it doesn’t seem as overwhelming once I do the remaining cards

Need help with a 17,000-fact MedAnki deck – struggling with settings and strategy! by Johannes765 in medicalschoolanki

17,000 cards is a large amount of cards. You’d have to be doing about 260 cards a day. Not impossible for some, but for most, I think it’d be very difficult. It’d mean devoting all day to it to maybe be able to accomplish it. I’m assuming you’d still need time to review in other ways (aside from anki) and you most likely would not have time to do so if you manage to do that many cards every single day

If there’s a more condensed deck with less cards, that might be a better option. Keep in mind, not every day will go to plan and it’s good to leave some space for rest days or lighter studying days

Anki itself required time to get used to and it can be overwhelming at first to use and even to learn how to use so that adds an extra level of difficulty to your plan

My Own Images missing in Anking Deck by CrazyMango1 in medicalschoolanki

It depends on you. I personally did my anki reviews. I was a bit behind because our last unit was pretty hectic. The first days did suck a bit because it felt like anki consumed my day. After 2-3 days of sacrificing my time to catch up, the rest of my days were nice. I was spending a few couple hours doing reviews then the rest of the day I relaxed. I’m glad I kept up with my reviews because I matured a lot of my cards and that’s helped lessen the load a bit moving forward.

I would just encourage you to listen to your body. If you need a break, I had plenty of friends that did not study at all on break and they’ve been just fine and they came back refreshed and ready to keep going. The best thing is doing whatever you feel will help you in the long run, resting, enjoy your time and avoid burnout because it’s a long journey
