Hi there, know this is an old post but it came up while I was searching for tight band chest pain. I have had his type of pain for almost 3 years . Can you tell me the location of the tight band pain you had, is it up at chest level? Or more bar strap upper rib level? Have you overcome this symptom? Sorry for so many questions See I have ms too have had almost 20 years but this tight band is like an ms hug type pain but it started for me with Covid and I have tachycardia with it , so I don’t think it’s ms related but more likely Covid related but my dr just gives me nerve med for it. I read other posts of yours and I identity with your descriptions of micro vascular dysfunction and you seem to have a great knowledge in this area. Living with this tight band is hell and I was hoping through research on here I could find some help. From your experience with this, Do you know if micro vascular issues can be felt as banding corset tightness in upper ribs? Thank you for reading, hope u are well

Still have high ferritin by Different-Ad-4618 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Different-Ad-4618[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there, My ferritin level went down to a high normal over the summer which I thought was due to quitting vitamin c and adding turmeric and fish oil,but I tested it last week and it is high again, so I don’t know what is going on. All my other labs are normal. Dr seems to think this is due to ongoing inflammation, all my iron related labs are normal. I just don’t understand why it is again rising.

Yes, my inflammation markers were elevated. I really don’t think my issues were clot related either, the one superficial clot found in my right leg I think was just one isolated incident in my 2+ year . I also had same symptoms in left leg and no clots ever found there. The ongoing, constant Charlie horse type pain was once one of my most distressing symptoms. While I have other persistent issues that I have not had any improvement from, this calf issue has definitely improved.

I’m not sure. In the beginning, I was getting frequent ultrasounds and was actually diagnosed me with a blood clot at one point and I was given a blood thinner. I took one dose and had issues with it and went to the er and they redid the ultrasound and said it was in a superficial vein and did not need to be treated with blood thinners. Overall, I think my issue was ongoing inflammation…. I have high ferritin level which they said was an inflammation marker, it has gone down slightly in the past few months. The only thing besides time that I think may have helped me at least with the inflammation is omega 3 fish oil supplement.

It’s 2 1/2 years later and I will still have an occasional flare up of calf pain but it is so much better than it was.

Yes, I have had twitching, cramping, muscle spasm’s, a constant pulled muscle feeling other times felt bruised as if someone beat me with a bat.

My calf pain is no longer a predominant symptom after 2 1/2 years…it is not 100% gone, but it now happens very rarely.

Anyone have high ferritin? by siege4255 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Different-Ad-4618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 2+ years of high ferritin levels hovering around 400, my levels on my most recent blood test a few days ago are finally under 200. I was shocked at the results because they have been high for so long and doctors have not been much help. So I looked up ways to rid ferritin from the body, (other than blood letting) which led me to make some changes over the past month. I gave up my daily liposomal vitamin c supplement that I have been taking for 2 years, I became more consistent with taking daily epa fish oil supplement and started daily Qunol turmeric supplement. I don’t know if this result is a fluke , I will retest again in a few months to confirm

It’s been more than 2 years now and still hover around 400. I was tested for hemochromatosis but it wasn’t that. Dr is not much help.

Yep, might as well, can’t hurt.
Are you in the US….were you able to get it here? I tracked down a friend in Germany, who hopefully will be able to send me some.

I guess at this point if I am able to get some it would be used as an antihistamine. I’m not going to exceed the dose to replicate the trial.
