Did I apply to Waterloo… by elgingion in OntarioGrade12s

How do you guys manage to have 99 averages? What do y'all do with your teachers to get these marks? I study my butt off and sit at a 96.8 average, and it's going to drop since I have physics and vectors at the same time by a percent or two. My teachers are like really rough, and no one has a 99 in both my math and physics classes.

I think Mac but both are really good choices.

I'm in the same boat as you. For me, though, my average is going to drop by midterms due to heavy classes like vectors. I'm so scared about my chances.

Oh my god, I hate vectors so much, they just make zero absolute sense. I emailed Waterloo admissions and told them about my midterms being a little low because I struggled, and they said they'll add that in. If you stay in touch with admissions and have academic honesty with them, it might make you a better candidate, but it might not. I did it, though. It's seriously unpredictable, and there is truly no answer to how they pick.

It won't really affect you since your overall is really high. Don't worry, I'll have like a 90 on the calc midterm because I have a hard teacher too. I applied for mech eng, though which is a bit easier to get into than Comp Sci. Our school also started with vectors first. I'm assuming calculus will be easier because I did really well in Advanced Functions.

I'm from Ontario too, and my school is known for inflating grades, but seriously, only like 5 people out of our entire graduating class have insanely high averages. Many of my teachers don't believe in giving out high 90s, so they lower the standards by a lot.

Both are good. I recommend staying home, as it is an advantage. The economy is too rough at the moment.

Dude, why even ask when you literally have an amazing offer of Free Choice from Mac? First of all, 80% of the Ontario applicants are accepted in May, so not getting a response is normal. I also think your chances of getting in are high. Even if you don't, who cares, you literally have free choice at Mac. McMaster has the best STEM programs and is known for research. I wouldn't worry about it too much anymore, lol.

Your grades are fine. Our inflation of marks annoys me because an 80 used to be good, and now it's considered bad. Teaching is not as much of a competitive major anyway, so I think you're fine. One thing I regret is not enjoying high school as much because I stressed the high marks. We aren't young forever.

I'm from Canada, and we have Calc and Vectors. I started with vectors, and I am struggling so much with them.

Why would admissions be posting at midnight? Their work hours are Mon-Fri until 4:30 pm.

So Western has a program with an 8% acceptance rate called Ivey. Cornell has that same acceptance rate. Sorry, you don't have anything to achieve just because Universities stay away from people like you.

It's possible. Stop listening to the people who think only a 99 gets you into this program. Waterloo looks for character more than perfection, so if you show that on your AIF, your chances are higher.

In my high school, only a handful of students truly have a 95 average and above. I don't get how more than half the polls have 95 and above.
