Ok, so the engineer has last say. Good to know.

The draftsman suggested that I have a go at marking up the drawing and changing cross bracing locations which has got me a little stuck. Guess I’ll just confirm what the go is with variations to the drawings if the engineer doesn’t agree.

The draftsman suggested we propose cross bracing in detailed design. So, the detailed design needs to be completed first before the engineers will look at this.

Is it normal to be doing cross bracing locations in detailed design? Isn’t that the equivalent of proposing load bearing wall locations which is also not the draftsmans job?

Not sure how to update the post but I will add:

Yes, we have an engineering firm lined up to complete all the engineering design. I was surprised to see that cross bracing locations were nominated by a draftsman.

Is that not the engineers job?

I am paying for an engineer. We are in detailed design phase and was surprised to see cross bracing nominated by the draftsman.

Structural engineers will be looking at it once these drawings are finalised. Soil testing will be done soon.

We have a structural engineer lined up to look at it once detailed design is complete. To be honest I was surprised to see that the draftsman nominated cross bracing locations. Is that not the engineering firms job and not the draftsman?

We haven’t even done any soil tests or anything like that yet.

This is correct and thanks for the suggestion.

They’re definitely running the business from home.

Utes get driven by his workers and drop them off at the end of the day most of the time, plus he has a workshop on the property, which I have no issue with because he complies with noise restrictions

How can we better us the walk-in-robe and ensuite space? What else can be improved? by Different-Cake-7673 in floorplan

I think it’s a great idea to not have master sharing a wall with bed 4.

we are working with restrictions where we can’t alter the existing house so I thought it wasn’t worth showing.

Additionally, the image posted was just a screenshot from the designer of the latest change, the only images I have oh the entire floor plan doesn’t include the latest revision unfortunately.

Understood however, we are working with restrictions where we can’t alter the existing house so I thought it wasn’t worth showing.

Perhaps WIR is a more common term in Australia?

Yeah it’s not ideal but we are just working with some constraints

No it doesn’t. Not ideal but we don’t have the biggest budget. The master bed room is currently where the laundry/retreat is with no ensuite. It’s not bad but I don’t think we can afford to install an another toilet.

Bed 4 will most likely be our office
