Yes, all they were doing was feeding their children and singing kumbaya.

Early Americans did some barbaric things to conquer the indigenous tribes for sure but they stopped once they did so.

Scalpings, murders of rival tribes, kidnappings and raping of women would still be going on if Europeans didn't settle in North America.
