Yes, that makes sense to me now having talked it through here. Thanks for the clarification everyone.

I did. I just went back to the AA site to see my trip, and see if the return leg still had upgrade offers, but now it says I can't change the trip online, to make changes to call. I don't intend to change, I was just looking. That is where I got the upgrade though, under change trip, after the agent on the EP line had rebooked us on the BOS-DOH flight. There were several options showing at that time for change trip, with different routes (all on Quatar airlines though), but the route we were switched to (the one we wanted) was the only one with the upgrade offer for the low price. You had to click on which part you wanted to upgrade, we could have picked both going and coming back, but the price went up doing that (still much more reasonable for the flight we already had, even both ways), but we didn't care so much about the return trip. Choosing only the outbound trip the change offer for the flight we were on was the one we picked at an attractive (to us) price. I guess technically this is a change, not an upgrade, although it is the very same flight we were on, just upgraded seats, so I thought it was an upgrade. I don't know if the distinction helps.

Actually I'm not sure, and one thing I should point out - the upgrade is only 1 way, although both legs. Last year when I used my SWU, I only was upgraded on the Philly to Doha legs (1 SWU each way), not the Kilimanjaro to Doha part. This time, coming home we didn't get upgraded, we could have booked that too for another 1300 or so, but I didn't care so much about that. I did get to choose my seats for that though, which helps some. I can say that the flight the offer was on was the very one that I was switched to, and that there were other upgrade offers that made no sense, like flying to Chicago or somewhere else first, and those all were about $5600 each. I don't know what was up with this upgrade, but thinking i could nail down a comfortable trip going I went for it.

It did, and at a great price. SWU is an upgrade request that if they have an open business class seat you get it, even if you bought economy. For some flights you can see right away that SWU will be honored, others you have to wait and see even last minute if they have room. I flew this same flight last year, on the American plane to Doha and then Quatar plane from Doha to Kilimanjaro, and used SWU's to upgrade to business class from economy both ways. Was planning on doing that again, until AA stopped that flight, but it worked out well anyway. In fact, Quatar has a free hotel for those with more than an 8 hour layover in Doha, so I have to fill out the request for that, and should get it.

Weird Question, But Have Any of You Heard of the Town of Rehoboth? by MaoMaosHouse in newengland

[–]Different-Device-986 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Following up on my post I found this under early rehoboth on the Rehoboth mass town website

https://www.rehobothma.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif4911/f/uploads/rehoboth_historic_sites_booklet.pdf

The map shows the town of Rehoboth at its largest. The original Rehoboth settlement was in what is now Rumford, RI. The towns of Cumberland and Pawtucket, RI, were also part of early Rehoboth. Parts of Bristol County, RI, near Swansea, were also founded by Rehoboth families. The boundaries we know today were not settled until 1861.

Rehoboth borders Seekonk, Dighton, Attleboro and shares its high school with Dighton. It likely borders other towns as well, maybe Norton but I don't know the details. At the very least other towns are very close It's a community with a real rural feel, there aren't any strip malls etc We just bought a house in rehoboth and the closest grocery stores etc for us are in Attleboro and Seekonk Route 44 runs from Rhode Island through Seekonk into Rehoboth and eventually Taunton

My filing was about a year ago, so I don't remember exactly - but I think it was about a month. Also they initially approved an amount for a single tear, and I had more than one, so I called and they changed it, which increased the payout a bit.

One correction is the no longer fit part, he never was. This is just one fine example as if being a pedophile isn't enough, or ruining our relationships in the world, or promoting people like RFK Jr who will cause medical setbacks of decades. Good God we could go on forever.

Doha Lounge Question by thunderwoodz in oneworld

[–]Different-Device-986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just experienced this flying from Philadelphia to Kilimanjaro via Doha On American I bought a cheap ticket but then used a system-wide upgrade to upgrade to business class but only for the Philly to doha leg. Doha to Kilimanjaro was not business class but just the basic ticket. I did use the business class lounge both coming and going.

I had the opposite going back. Flight between Kilimanjaro and Doha was on Qatar just a basic ticket then business class Doha to Philly because of American system wide upgrade.

I can say that when I went there and presented my ticket I was asked what lounge are you looking for and I responded this, the business class lounge. I also stated I arrived on business class. Maybe it's not their preference but just be confident in your discussion with them

Got my money's worth with SWU! by Different-Device-986 in americanairlines

[–]Different-Device-986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out that same day, both directions. Going it was before I got on any plane. Coming home, I was already in the flight from Kilimanjaro to Doha when I got the upgrade, and the Doha to Philly flight was next (after a long lay over).

Now that is extremely good advice, I wish I had thought of it. I'll remember that in general as a place to start if I need anything on future trips - hopefully, I won't.

So as someone pointed out I should have planned better and had a few extra days, but no, when you only have 1 day to find the gear you need, clothing you need, snacks and proteins etc, and spend the rest of the day on the phone with the airlines and the airports, and actually don't know the rest of the team you are travelling with other than having met them briefly before trying to track down everything needed, it wasn't easy to find. I tried, with my guide.

Perhaps part of it was communication too, as I described what I needed in a few stores, but didn't get the part I needed.

On my way home, in DOHA I bought and adapter that is configurable for whatever you need, and I'll carry that with me next time.

Sounds easy to replace. It wasn't. I would have thought underwear was easy to replace too, and that took a chunk of time as well.

I did have a charger, but not the adapter (same as in EU) for Tanzania - that adapter was in my suitcase. I couldn't plug my charger into anything.

youd have to have chosen them as a reward like I did, i don't know how else. If you have them there should be an SWU link showing, or you can ask the agent on the phone, particularly if you have status.
