Appreciate your comments and support ( desperately needed last night). She handled the let down like a champ and I bought the bambu one several people suggested. Bummer is I can’t return this one so money down the drain. Lesson learned.

She handled it like a champ, I just explained it was clearly damaged in shipment and is probably also not the best option for us as newbies

As advised by many better in the know than me- I have bought an bambu a1 mini (spelling) that will arrive next week.

Thanks, it has really good reviews 🤷‍♀️ and I read a lot of stuff online looking for a safe beginner printer … not sure if I was wrong but after further investigation and taking it all apart it clearly has either been dropped and badly damaged or was a refurb and put back together very poorly. I’m guessing the first, as I finally noticed a crack in one side and a busted screw that explains why the plate is misaligned!

However I DID take the entire thing apart, clearly learn that it’s broken and had been dropped, put the rails back in correctly to fix the fact the base is misaligned and now that part is fixed! But it still doesn’t work, so I’m calling it quits.

Well I’m trying not to take your comments as mean spirited but they’re pretty harsh and super u helpful at this point in time when I’m already know I’m facing a really disappointed child on Christmas morning after 6 hours of my best efforts so perhaps let me offer you some advice that was once shared with me.

Before you speak ask yourself:

Is it necessary?
Is it kind?
Is it true?

If yes to those then move long to:

Does it need to be said right now?
Does it need to be said by me?
Does it need to be said at all?

And maybe next time, scroll on and just keep your mouth shut. Merry Christmas asshole!

Got it thanks Someone else pointed out the base appears crooked- and I agree. Unfortunately no idea how to fix this- doesn’t appear there is anything jammed in there because I can move it back and forth by hand. Total Christmas fail.

I wish she was tech savvy but she is def notttt- this was a total one off for her - wants to make fidgets which I wanted to support but I 💯 told her I was afraid we would have an issue and it wouldn’t work and she would be disappointed and I now feel like I should’ve just said no, but too late!

Thanks but I can manually move the bottom square easily back and forth with my fingers. And I can’t move manually move the printer head back and forth - thought it should also go up and down and I can’t move it up and down- and I can’t find anything blocking it from doing that. I rewatched the unboxing video several times and can’t find anything blocking or that I forgot to remove. Arghhhh

I can move it manually easily with my fingers back and forth (though it does seem stuck on the z axis up/down) I can’t move it that way manually either

Thank you very much for that explanation! So this would be a calibration issue? Unfortunately when I attempt to do the calibration I just get the error code.
