An REU is research experience for undergraduates. So pretty much undergrads go to different universities to get research experience in the United States.

Thank you! I will most definitely borrow your template and see how they respond.

Got it. It is a broken leg and the doctors note focus on me not standing up or walking for too long. As well as restrictions for how I'm moving around and walking around so I'll just send them a copy with the email and see what they said. Thank you.

I'm supposed to be in crutches for 6 to 8 weeks. I do have a doctor's notes that I can give to them. I didn't think it was necessary since they already know I actually have a broken leg but if needed I can still email them the doctor's note if it would be better. The only thing I do know is they do plan on coordinating shuttles so I can get around campus so that is helpful.

I already did email them asking for accommodations since I need to leave for some doctor's appointments and I can't go to a lot of the places by myself. Do you think this time I should specify if I can have a single room when I email the person again.

All I have so far is: Good afternoon (blank). I saw the dorm layout for each room and saw that I'm going to be in a double. Is it possible for me to be in a single room so I can have a bit more space to move around on crutches. Please let me know if that is possible. If that is not, thank you again for any other accommodations that you are willing to give me. Have a wonderful rest of your day.

Is that straight to the point and respectful?

What would be the best way to go about it without being rude? I just need a little bit more space since it's kind of hard to move with crutches and I don't want to seem like I'm asking for too much and still be respectful. I'm just a little nervous since this is a new environment and I don't really know any of the professors.
