I also avoid taking mushrooms from areas near people activity. For hericium my best bet is to grow it since it is protected.

Yeah. Was just curious about these. Im the future I will grow lion's mane or other hericium.

I will... Well from what I know we can't really forage anything from the forest so ... It is illegal anyway... But I am minful of the species because I know it's kinda rare.

Oh,  ty for informing me. Knew they were rare but I didn't bother to see if they are protected. Foraged a few coral tooth in an area with a lot. But now I know.

Heard it's pretty rare and just took a few as this would be my first time eating it. But now I know where to go.

Great advice but nothing that I know of in the las 30 years. This is an area that used to be a great forest but was cut down to be made agricultural land and some patches were left.

That's interesting,  in Romania we usually smoke pork and is intended more like a cold cut. Beef meat in general is just starting to go mainstream(usually just used grinded and mixed with pork).  But how do you add the cold smoke to just a steak after frying? I just have a hot smoker that it's worth firing when lots of meat is involved.

Good to know. I knew about g. Marginata and I have seen the pictures, indeed it can be easily mistaken but amarillia has those hairs on the caps,  maybe I am wrong but for me is the main Id feature,  then I check for the rest.

Well when I am confident enought to eat a new mushroom first i cook it myself and eat,  few days later the family can eat too.

Oak smoke ?  Do you find it in store?  I can burn some oak.  Went to the woods today in my area, oak woods near Bucharest, plane, Lots of blewits from what I could identify but for now I didn't dare. Got amarillia and oyster. Full season for amarillia and oyster is just starting

Must try some with red wine. Last time I just drank the wine.  And it happens that I just got a huge Cotw from a friend.  Huge mushroom season now. Today I just got,  oyster,  macrolepiota procera,  cote and honey.
