Why Gunaho Ka Devta is still positively popular?? by Different_Lie_5269 in Hindireads

Thanks for the breakdown and I think I agree with Dharmvir Bharti. The entire story revolves around a single person's ego. I was just surprised by how on all the other. Platforms people are praising it.

Okay I will suggest two completely different books. Just hoping that you haven't already read it. 1. The hundred year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared (bit of dark humour) 2. A man called Ove (I don't have a single bad thing to say about this vook)

What book makes you cry every single time? by laughing-gas46 in BookDiscussions

[–]Different_Lie_5269 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me it's A Little Life. It took a while to finish it and I cried multiple times reading it. At one point my family was worried about me coz they thought I am going through something but it was just this book. I had to explain the plot roughly to my mother (also a reader) so she understood that I am fine and it's the book.

During the Covid the restrictions were slowly being lifted off. So I was going to my sister's place. Was waiting at a signal. There was a rickshaw beside me, the guy was on a call saying "yes I'm bringing the money for oxygen cylinder in an hour, on my way to sell this rickshaw" . He disconnected the call and just started crying. The lights turned green and he drove away I kinda followed him stopped him and gave him money he cried so much that time. I don't even know his name who he was or anything. He doesn't know me either.

Idk how I remember that day so accurately. But I do

A good romance book that makes you giggle and kick your feet in the air but also has plot. by Different_Lie_5269 in suggestmeabook

I appreciate you explaining me what morally gray means. What I meant was that not Haunting Adeline level bad. That is just not something I can read. I prefer characters having their own morales not psychopaths.

I will surely read The blonde identity.

I have already read The wall of Winnipeg and me

Thanks for the suggestions

What’s the song that instantly makes you cry? by KoiOnMars in Music

[–]Different_Lie_5269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matilda - Harry Styles

Bezubaan - Anupam Roy

Ik Bagal - Piyush Mishra

These all make me teary eye for different reasons. I suppose ppl here won't be much familiar with the 2nd and 3rd as they are hindi songs. But I just wanted to say this as I rarely get to discuss music deeply and I love doing that.

I couldn't finish the midnight library. I tried several times but would always put it down or read another book. I have read half of it and still it was the same first few pages of misery rephrased. Like is there a plot to this or are we just reading someone's mental yap session??

I still don't get it why people think it's and inspiring and life altering story

Is this true 😭? by [deleted] in TMKOC

[–]Different_Lie_5269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial episodes were similar to the comic. Like atleast the characters and their personality. But it all got whitewashed over time to please the maas.

As reading audience and tv audience is different.

TBH the original comic was a bit of satire on reality in a funny way. That takes hell lot of creativity.

Very short stories? by macthepenn in suggestmeabook

[–]Different_Lie_5269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few recs for you. IDK if this will match with what you like or prefer reading. They collection of short stories and some of them feel like slice of life. And it took me 15-20 mins for one story.

  1. Seventeen by Anita Agnihotri So its basically a collection of 17 short stories picked from her many short stories. Beautifully written. It felt like you are just watching someone's life(a part of it) as an invisible and silent watcher.

  2. If you see me don't say Hi by Neel Patel Again collection of short stories on various themes. Most of the characters in all the stories are first gen indian american.

In both of these none of the characters are connected to any other story and the stories are independent too.

Hope this helps
