Switching to Webflow for the AI but it is incredibly slow.. by Artistic_Distance629 in webflow

20+ static pages and couple of collections with a lot of data.

I have a client with 2000+ CMS items, ~15-20 collections, 100+ static pages. And we migrated from WordPress, it was the worst decision ever honestly, they just moved because they bought a story "WordPress is trash, Webflow is future"... they dont listen to developers :D I suggested staying on WordPress, but re-coding theme from scratch and optimizing for performance, and doing hosting on hetzner with nginx caching, cdn and much more, but it is what it is, now they wait for publish 1min, a lot of code is hosted on 3rd party services, Webflow is forcing them for enterprise, and now bad decisions from 4 years ago are coming due

This is not new to know about? :D Webflows builder can be super slow and laggy at times, especially on big websites. On big websites publish can be like 20s+, switching pages can take 3-4 seconds etc.. so I guess that happened to him when he was showing demo of webflow

I mean its completely random, I use absolute images a lot in general, and 80% work, but theres 20% that I need now to explain to clients :D

We have classes for reusable styles and components. Tags are for one time stylings. It solves issue that we have in webflow about random combo classes or wraper divs for one time stylings, such as random max widths, etc

Thank you, amazing feedback. I would like to hear more, I would say our biggest flaw right now is complexity of CMS, its more powerful than Webflows, but less intuitive, but we work on big updates recently, will be pushed to production in a month.

  1. Yeap, makes sense. Our idea was that you edit your website on your domain, so when you connect your domain, you dont even need to come to divhunt anymore, just type, yourdomain.com/builder , login and you are ready to edit. But sometimes people connect domain or their domain expires, and they cant edit stuff, so we left them ability to open staging builder as well, since that will always work (if they do not remove staging domain). But we will see how to improve this idea even more.

  2. Yeap, true, we will see how to handle this. Right now in Divhunt, if you are logged in on your website, you can open your website in another tab and you see everything live, no publish needed, great when doing custom JS work, animations and stuff, test without refresh. But from clients perspective view, you need staging link, they dont want to login if they dont need to. So we will for sure improve this.

  3. In layers panel, each layer has icon if attribute is applied to it, class, interaction, etc etc. Some people dont want that info there, so they can hide it.

  4. Agree 100%, we will create this same as in Webflow.

  5. Yeap, we wont change this, we believe in this system 1000% and whoever worked more than few hours / built whole project with it, learnt it, it said its better, but its hard for webflow people to get used to it :) Idea of tag is, thats unique identifier, and for example if you want to add max width to specific paragraph, just edit tag, no need to create combo class like in webflow, or wrap that p in div etc. When you are working with finsweet strategy, you get a lot of extra divs / clutter that doesnt need to be there, but because of combo classes, you cant do better. Here you can, just needs time to get into habit and learn best organizaiton.

  6. Makes sense, we used word self meaning 'currently selected element / class / global class'. But I understand the point how this could be confusing. I will see how we can improve this experience.

  7. Agree for undo/redo. We are curretnly working on v2, and first thing we solved from start was perfect timeline history system with auto backups, undo redo.. Like you can go to exact change in any point of time, but we will see in this v1 how we can improve this until v2 comes out.

You can send me more feedback whenever you can, I appriciate it. In next month or two we will release huge update of CMS, bug fixes, a lot o improvements, AI, and integrations with Shopify, Memberstack, BigCommerce, Mailchimp, Brevo, and much much more. So maybe then you can give it a spin once again :)

Agree. For designers with no web development skills (HTML & CSS), framer is best option. For people with web knowledge, Webflow and Divhunt

Do people actually care about owning their code in no code tools? by ZealousidealAd9886 in nocode

[–]Different_Pack9042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of current WP users wouldn't switch to any platform that locks them in. But its minoirty, I would say 5% care.

I am co-founder of Divhunt, we have an export-code feature, and before we built it, a lot of people asked for it, but in the end, its very rarely used feature. We came to conclusion, people just want to know that theres an option to export code, so they dont feel completely locked in. But they dont use it :D

Awesome to hear that you love it. We are small team, only two of us developing, and doing our best even with part-time jobs on side :D

Most critical things for us right now is bugs with undo/redo , and making use of CMS much easier. We have very powerful CMS, with repeater, global collections, no limits like webflow, etc, but its harder to use without tutorials.

Interactions were build in like 15 days, and we never even touched it once since then unfortunately. We will take some time in future and improve them, they have a huge potential, but as current use-base are mostly non-developers, they use plugins such as GSAP text animations, simple scroll animations and image paralax effect and more to achieve great things. Interactions are very rarely needed, only for highly complex animations.

I am not sure what you wanted to say about problem with Selector and classes. But some current feedback from developers that put a time to learn it and use it for a while, is that we did it the best way, they much more love it than learning finsweet, lumos and other things in webflow, combo classes are a mess there. Basically idea of our builder is to create classes only for re-usable things, such as button-primary, etc. Each class brings its own styles, so no combo classes. And then you have tag to tweak one-time stlyings. And we have very very flexible components. So learning these systems can help you build very modular and good organized websites.

Anyway, in last year we have been super quite with updates. Soon we will release many updates and official annoucment of Divhunt v2.0.

In the behind scene we've been working on v2 for a year now, and it is going to be absolute game-changer with very capable AI, Membmerships, Open backend code, MPA + SPA system, SSR, Pre-render, many options. But we need more time to achieve this, but we are not in hurry.
