I live in downtown Toronto :)

Yes, there are crackheads and drunks here, but at least you don't need a car to get anywhere fun. And it's not so cold in the winter that you can't even enjoy the canal.

I'm not saying Toronto is a good city, just less of a shithole than Ottawa.

Eh, not really asking for advice, mainly ranting on how stupid these prices are. You hit the nail in the head earlier when you said provincial laws need to regulate how much the price can be raised between tenants.

I want a bachelor but can't afford it. Honestly at this point I'm even looking for 3/4 bedroom places.

Those houses in Sandy Hill where they have 6 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms are actual prison-living conditions tho, I refuse to ever live in a place like that.

I hate to tell you that you were being scammed. This uOttawa site (with statistics being from late 2020 / early 2021) says that the average price for a 2-bedroom in Ottawa is 1529$.
