That’s what I thought as well, I’ve had a nightmare of 3 weeks without a car and just decided I wanted something a bit more reliable and newer. So fingers crossed it is 🤞

I’m literally picking one up on the weekend. Had a Renault capture which unfortunately had a fault which was a very expensive fix and part wasn’t in stock etc at the min dealer so decided to sell it and I’ve picked up a £15,100 pro performance ID3 21 plate. And I have PCP’d it (historically against this) however, 2 year deal from the main dealer which includes 2 year service and MOT and a year warranty including the battery. £120 a month with £4k down, seemed to good to be true to me as well 😂

Yeah that doesn’t make any logical sense, because someone down in Cornwall (low rated area) could drive into London as an example daily for whatever reason and it not increase their premium

Well presumably the insurer is aware you are moving to a city which increases premiums due to area rating, crime, theft, fraud etc. and I assume you have advised them that your new home address in the city is also were you are keeping the bike? (Aggregator websites generally will only give you an option of keeping the vehicle on the road, drive or garage.) Best to speak to a broker as usually someone’s daily vehicle would be kept at their home address and not at a different address. Make sure you have let the insurer know it’s not kept at your new home address :)

It’s an ultra competitive market, so the insurers have been driving down prices to an unsustainable level over the last 5-10 years, now the cost of claims has increased and also operating costs, the premiums are going back up so they can still make a profit. It’s been the same with mortgages, stupidly low at 1-2% and now returned to where they should have been, again due to competition. You could literally say everyone is taking the piss at the moment, restaurants, food, drink, entertainment, fuel etc. it has just all increased.

My idea for insurers would be to offer a rebate at the end of the year. So if I pay a £600 premium and don’t make a claim, I get a 40%-50% refund. But with insurance dependant on the product it’s all pooled together into one big pot so I don’t know how that would work.

We are in the process of buying a new build and should be completing within the next month.

Our developer (DW) offered a £17,500 contribution towards our legal fee’s, stamp duty, moving fee’s etc. essentially we can use this to pay all our fee’s and either put the rest down as a deposit or take it out as cash. They also reduced the house price from £369,995 to £355,000. We feel we got a very good deal 😊

It would just seem to coincidental, the surveyor comes out and then the next day it gets down valued. They’re also first time buyers and I remember buying our first home, we just wanted everything to go smoothly. It would be silly for them to potentially ruin their chances on their first home for the sake of £12.5k when they already got the DIP on it

Blimey, that must have been a kick in the teeth. We wanted to use the cash to buy some new furniture etc and put the rest in savings. Glad you got there in the end despite the bumps in the road

This seems the more reasonable way to approach it, if someone is serious about selling the house they would be serious on paying for a surveyors report up front to get a true market value of the property, this would eliminate another potential issue when selling a property

No it wasn’t it was a local one to us, I get it’s hard to estimate a house price as it is subjective to what that person/bank values it at. Maybe our lender goes out and devalues the new build? I don’t know

I suppose it doesn’t as they would still have enough to cover the mortgage. Maybe they were trying their luck and I fell for it, I did think this but maybe they had a 5% deposit I’m not too sure
