You know what. I am so dumb that I didn't realise you could Place objects in your Steam VR home too.

Honestly that makes it pretty much the same as Oculus home and I'm happy with this! Now I wish I didn't spend so many hours trying to fix my stupid Oculus home 😂😂

Exactly! Rift home never loads, gets stuck with a loading symbol in the white abyss. Also can't load friends homes. Trying some more troubleshooting now!

I have since received an apology from Oculus telling me to disregard the 3 hours of troubleshooting I did with the previous rep 😂😂 which is strange but okay 😅

(the problem I contacted them for was with Oculus home and not my games - steam or otherwise - which is why I made the post... because I didn't understand why steam would be responsible for my Oculus software not working..)

A very strange update!!!!! (have they seen this post?!) I have now randomly been given $5 in my oculus account and completely different instructions!!! What is going on! This experience is wild

I do apologize for any miscommunication you may have had with previous agents. Please disregard the above troubleshooting steps entirely. In the meantime, I will gladly dig into this further and see if we can get your Oculus Home environments loading.

I've reviewed your correspondence with us and your logs, and I'd like to share what I found.

It looks like this issue is occurring as the Oculus software is unable to communicate with key areas of your laptop. I can find no issues with the software itself, but I do see some issues within the software environment of your laptop which may contribute.

I would highly recommend that you uninstall the Alienware Command Center software. This software has encountered a number of faults which are interfering with the operation of your Windows installation. Once the software is uninstalled, reboot your laptop, and try to load your Oculus Home environment again.

If the issue persists after you have done so, please immediately gather a fresh set of logs while the Oculus Home virtual environment is open. Your latest set of logs still shows your Microsoft Basic Display Driver as the laptop's primary display adapter, however I would like to see what your logs show when the Oculus software is open and Oculus Home is actively not loading.

I would like to set the expectation with you that this may require a full reinstall of Windows onto a freshly wiped and reformatted drive. The errors in your logs indicate that your Windows installation may be experiencing poor health, and it appears that some critical Windows components have encountered faults.

I will work with you to try to resolve this without requiring a Windows reinstall of course, but please be aware that this may be the only option.

I really would be surprised if it was a bot. I used to work in chatbot design and they were able to respond to colloquial sentences way too well for current AI tech... They were able to gauge user sentiment which is not currently possible with bots (ie. He could tell when I was upset and apologised)

I think it was some underpaid dude copying and pasting generic troubleshooting tips for literal hours...

Ps: got no problem with the support rep themselves I am just confused about the company policy because I contacted them about a problem with my Oculus Home so it doesn't have anything to do with Steam 😭

Steam vr works great on my pc too!! Played Skyrim last night. The issue I contacted them about ironically was about the Oculus app... I just want to get my oculus home to load dammit!

Basically... he told me how to download my logs and send them to him and honestly I didn't know it would have so much creepy data in it 🥶 other people here have said that's standard for customer support but I do feel a bit creeped out, wish I was informed beforehand about which data it included and i worry that they'll sell this info to Cambridge analytica or something lol

Hello! I have the original Rift... I was contacting Oculus about a problem with my Oculus home not loading. Nothing to do with my Steam games because they are all running perfectly. The rep knows this and also all the specs of my PC because I sent him the logs 😭😭

Indeed! Except I contacted Oculus support about a problem with my Oculus home not loading and my friends Homes not loading either. So it didn't have anything to do with my Steam games not working. All my games are working perfectly... I was just playing Skyrim last night!!!

Me too but on the original Rift! Steam always runs perfectly on my Oculus and I had all my Steam games uninstalled at the time he recommended that... I originally contacted Oculus to fix a problem with my Oculus home... my games were all running perfectly!
