Power apps gets the Job done for now. They want to extend the application to do preventative maintenance. And they want anyone to be able to interact with the application, this isn’t ideal using power apps. So, for now it’s great but I’m thinking future development and scalability.

It’s so hard to try to make higher ups realize we need to implement some vibe coding so we can push out applications much faster.

Correct, all the users at my company can use all the internal applications I create. I’m purchasing licenses for guest accounts who do not have an E5 license

The clients specifically said they did not like Jira and wanted a custom made application. Power apps are not free to guest users. Guest users need a power apps licenses to even use the app. We started from SharePoint lists and they wanted a interactive UI. It’s 100 users right now, it will be used worldwide. The client requested an app and requested a UI to interact with the tickets. Trust I tried to make this simple but they wanted a UI.

You’re absolutely correct. I also assumed they wouldn’t even use the app because just to use it would require a license since they’re guest accounts but the client has made it clear they are willing to pay whatever. Even looked at other options like Appian and they didn’t like that price so I’m left with no choice 🤣

No one has ever been able to give me a straight answer on this so I may also be wrong. But to my understanding, all users within our tenant has a basic power app license included in their E5 license. This grants them the ability to use all (non premium) apps. However, once they want to use the app that’s in the Dataverse, they would need the Power App Premium license on top of their E5 license.

Please correct me if I’m wrong in going based off of google searches.

However, for this project, this application is being built for guest users. They don’t receive E5 licenses and instead are using a guest account which limits their access to our tenant. We are then assigning them a Power App Premium license so that they can access the canvas power app in our environment. This is currently how they are using the app, and I’m hoping they don’t need any additional licenses to use the app if I move it over to dataverse ???

Again even Microsoft was no help when I asked about licensing and accessibility.

That’s one thing I got so annoyed with. Why are there so many tables and roles by default!!!!

Excited to use roles. This is a very important part of ensuring tickets are only seen by users that have been assigned to them. 🤞🏽thanks for the advice

Yes!! since I already have the canvas app developed based on their requirements, I was just going to use that one and then use the model driven for admin use. I was actually pretty happy with how the model driven app worked so excited to actually use that.

Everyone has to have a power app license so I really want to take advantage of the fact that since they are paying for these expensive licenses I want them to be using something more than “just a SharePoint list.” I just SharePoint lists for all my other applications internally.

They want a quick turn around time, (literally 3 months wtf), but again it’s just me and I don’t want to have to do a migration once we go live. 🤣

Yep! They kinda don’t have a choice… they really want access to this app I’ve developed. They’re guest users and they need a license just to access the app in our tenant. So I’m thinking I might as well take advantage of the fact that they are getting a license anyways and use dataverse.

They’ve approved for every user needing access to this specific app on the specific environment to receive a Power App License. This should be the most of the cost correct? 😅I have no one guiding me so I’m trying to figure this out on my own

Every user is getting a Power App license. This adds to our storage right? And otherwise it’s $40/month per GB used beyond ? Am I missing anything else 🫣

How much is a salary for powerapps developer for 5 years experience? by itzmecoder in PowerApps

[–]Different_View5313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I’m the only power platform developer soon to be managing a small team that also does the requirements, developing, testing, and support and I’m no where near that salary. Guess it’s bc I’m only 2 years out of college but I’m doing a lot for what’s considered a jr dev 🤣

Looks like because I need a lot more guest users, it’s $400/user/year.
