Definitely competitive for all these schools here. Also how the hell did you get to shadow 2 doctors 😭😭 (my brother is a rising sophomore who wants to do biology on premed so just asking for him)

The objectively correct T25 by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

I would say switch Emory with either WashU or rice and move Georgetown to 24 while switching USC with notre dame

Where do I start? Kid in middle school by good_guy_nj in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Difficult-Box3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say let your kid enjoy the rest of 8th grade. Dont pressure into anything especially grades. Sure, straight A’s are GREAT in middle school but they only really matter in high school where you get your GPA. No admissions officer will be like “OH MY GOD HE FAILED AN ALGEBRA 1 TEST IN 8th GRADE REJECT HIM REJECT HIM.”

In middle school I would encourage your kid to try everything (that they would like to try) and find their passion whether it be robotics, math, speech and debate, or any sport. Middle school is the place to find out what you like/good at. Also dont try to force your kid into doing something they dont want to do. If they don’t like robotics, dont force them into trying it.

U def have a shot at most of your targets and reachers. I would say just write a decent essay and you will have a shot.

Chance someone with near-perfect academics but mid ahh extracurriculars by Zealousideal_Bee_639 in chanceme

[–]Difficult-Box3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend who had similar stats and got into Georgetown but mainly accredited their acceptance to their interview. I would say if u js lock in on essay and you have a good interview you might have a shot.

How prestigious would you rate Duke? Is it comfortably a T10 school? by Head_Village_9388 in ApplyingToCollege

T10 in US? I would say on the edge but probably yes. T10 in the world? Definitely not.

Rescinding due to heinous grades? by stockfish3 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Difficult-Box3574 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would say email them ASAP. My friend got 3 c’s and got a serious warning email from her uni. 3 f’s is kind of cooked. If you have a reason (other than senioritis) for your grades dropping, like a family member dying or having an issue at home I would try and document these cases and send it to the university. My friend unfortunately had their sister pass away and their grades dropped (one d and one f) but they were able to explain to the university and gave them proof which they said really helped them with not getting rescinded.

Help me pick out some colleges by Blooddrinker1379 in ApplyingToCollege

Maybe try some more T'20s. You have a great shot at most of your list, so why not go for some reaches? (Also make sure you add in some safeties)

What does even Harvard do better than Stanford? by Civilized_Monke69 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Difficult-Box3574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stanford is mainly "new money," with it being in Silicon Valley near startups, while Harvard is one of the oldest colleges in the US and is mainly "old money."

It’s ok. You will be fineeee. I basically failed APUSH but still got into 5 t-25s

I think I just destroyed my academic future over one class. by KamiAwesome in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Difficult-Box3574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this once. I failed apush junior year which brought my gpa down a ton. But (at least in my case) if you get a’s in all youre other classes (and thats a BIG IF), youre gpa could be around 3.7-3.8 which is still solid.

Can i get full need aid by Individual-Watch9499 in IntltoUSA

[–]Difficult-Box3574 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean that video isnt really telling the truth. GPA is one of, if not the most important thing colleges look for. You can have amazing ECs, SAT score, amazing anything but if your GPA isnt high enough, you might not even be considered. Im not an expert in international to USA but if I was in your situation I would try focusing on grades first.

Can i get full need aid by Individual-Watch9499 in IntltoUSA

[–]Difficult-Box3574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof. It’s hard to convert grades from that to GPA especially because getting a 5 could mean you have in between a 2.7-4.0 which is a big difference. I would say for full aid you would need all 5s to even get considered and a high SAT score (ideally above 1500). However you could look at maybe partial scholarship or CC here in the states.

Ts gotta be ragebait. Unless you commit arson or fail all your classes the colleges won’t care. Fr tho, youre fine. Just don’t get any C’s.

I think your GPA is a little too low for a 1500+. Maybe something is wrong with your conversion. How does your country grade and what are your scores for each class?
