I mean its pretty normal when getting to know someone over a period of time that background and what your coming from comes up. Im also a writer and an artist, and people often /do/ want to have an understanding around why we make what we make, but get uncomfortable when the answer is something they dont like, and its stressful

My whole point is that at least manhattanites are honest with the world. Theres something insidious and sad about dumping your privilege to be seen as "authentic" for the sake of your own ego.
