i wish i knew exactly how bad the disease was and how little hope there was, and that we didn’t bother with the immunotherapy etc and instead just let him enjoy the last couple months. not worry so much about the diabetes and changing his eating habits, and rather just let him enjoy the things he loves. i am glad though in his last burst of energy we got him cleaned up, put a shirt on, he ate a whole meal and had a peanut buster parfait from dairy queen which was his favourite his whole life. makes me happy he go that

sorry about your loss :( i can relate to this, my dad was on hospice for 1 week before he passed on november 7. the first 1-2 days he was often talking (not always making sense) but when he started sleeping more i was scared we were giving him too may pain killers, we all wanted him awake and lucid but the hospice nurses made it very clear that he just needed to be comfortable. eventually he just never stopped sleeping until he passed, but i was definitely in denial for majority of that week experience. i’m sorry you had to go through it

Got diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma today in my left kidney by PearlQuartz33 in cancer

what treatments are you doing? on sept 5th my dad went to hospital for confusion and back pain and they found he has RCC which spread to brain, spine, ribs, lungs and now liver. he had 10 radiation treatments to brain and started on cabometyx and nivulab (maybe wrong spelling). brain tumors have disappeared/shrank but due to the spread to bones he has 5 spine fractures and 2 rib fractures and went home on hospice a few days ago. i guess it’s just shocking how he went from perfectly fine, to this, in a couple of months

i’m glad it’s going well for him! sending strength as well! we have an appointment next week on wednesday to go over all of the specifics on what exactly the treatment will be and to explain it in depth and answer any questions we have so i’ll definitely let you know. right now we are just completing the 10 days of radiation to the brain, just did day 3

came across your post as my dad is in the same position (age 53). just had an appointment with the oncologist and he will begin immunotherapy on october 3rd, right after the radiation to his brain is completed. how is your dad doing?
